Do you mean Murdoch or Starmer on July 5th? Murdoch has recently been going through spouses almost as quickly as the Conservatives have been going through leaders.
I meant Murdoch, who is one if the most powerful people on the planet. Starmer will never be that powerful. Unless he’s goes nuclear!

A lot of Labour's communication seems to be stressing that nothing is guaranteed, and often sounds quite desperate to avoid complacency.

What you're describing is just one possible effect. There's equally likely to be people who assume the Tories will lose, and who won't want to bother voting for the loser. Others who want to vote for the winners.

It's also likely, that while the Tories will spend more money, and be able to post out more letters, they won't have anything like the number of volunteers knocking on doors as Labour and the Lib Dems.

On election day, if you live in a Lab/Lib Dem target and you've at any time given an indication that you might vote for them, then someone is almost certain to knock on your door. You'll be told how important it is to get to the polling station and offered help to get there if you need it. The Tories don't have anything like the same physical presence.
Help to get there?

Help to get a postal vote. more like.

I've probably told the tale of calling an elderly woman (Labour voter) at 9.40 on election night to check she'd voted. "No" she said, "I've not been well." "I'm sorry to hear that. How are you feeling now?" "A bit better." "Can we send a car to take you to vote?" "No, I don't fancy going out now." "Well, can we get you a postal vote for next time?" "No, because I like going."

They cut management posts in regional NHS offices. GPs then had to appoint practice managers - only a lot of GPs did the managing themselves, at the expense of seeing patients.

and then got the blame for not providing F2F consultations - what the Tories have relied upon is making cuts then when people moan gaslighting them with mis-information which relies on the hard of understanding and the research poor to go oh yeah its all their fault

and now the end is near.......

I’d love it, Keegan style, if it turns out that the real Nigel Farage is tied up in a basement somewhere and the guy who gave that announcement today was really Peter Mandelson in a Scooby Doo rubber mask. All part of a sinister plan to cause even more damage to the Tories.

She knows she’s about to lose her seat.

David Cameron had the right idea - go on holiday and distance himself as far away from this clusterfuck as possible.

several of them have - its sit on the sunbed and soak up the last of the salary - I wonder if a few won't turn up to their count?

Watling was resting on a bumper majority in Clacton, 72.3% of the vote in 2019. Resting less easily now, I'd imagine.

I think 80 of them have given their seat up ,
Some for legit reasons but vast majority looked to have jumped , I wouldn’t have lined to shared a trench with them .

I'll be honest with you coz its not me but if I looked over and saw Steve Baker on the sunbed next to me I'd stand up spit on him and call him a fucking coward for Brexit and his now ducking the reckoning - there are so many cowards
