If you don't grasp the point, leave me to it anyway. What's your point Vic or are you just trying to be argumentative for the sake of it? I will have to leave it to you if it's the latter?

I’m in the high tax bracket. Personally I’d like to see them increase that and introduce further levels at higher income.

Was there a couple of weeks ago. Nice town hall. Rest of the town very dispiriting. Reckon the Spoons near to the train station takes over £100k pw.Might watch the debate tonight, only to see if there's any intelligent life in Grimsby.
£100 pound bet at 5/1. Sums up the Tory campaign. Just going through the motions. What odds did he get?
I think the issue is that people on 50k are already taxed appropriately. Its people such as myself who put chunks of money into their pension to avoid higher rates of tax and those who only pay CGT because a large part of their remuneration is in share options. Some people on 100k may be struggling but you cannot base tax policy on individuals or some people.
50k is decent wage and should be taxed accordingly. Personally I think we need huge Tax reforms in this country. Its another chance for Labour to make meaningful change. They won't take it though.
Fully agree, for baseload generation its the only sensible option, even though its expensive to build and maintain. Ruling out nuclear to satisfy the more extreme party members is just idiotic.I’m not going to be hearing out the Greens until they change tack on nuclear power (which they still haven’t in this year’s manifesto). Any realistic transition away from fossil fuels, if we want to meet our climate targets, needs nuclear. Denying this reality is to live in a world of fantasy. Nuclear power is the cleanest, safest and most reliable method of power generation currently available - it produces less CO2 than solar. Any climate scientist will tell you this.
The broader point is - combating climate change is supposed to be the Green’s flagship policy platform. It’s what they are all about. So if they insist on torpedoing their credibility on this issue and not listening to scientists then what faith can I have in their credibility on any other issue?
Don’t get me wrong, some of their policies seem like nice ideas, but it’s impossible to know with them which of their ideas are actually thought through, evidence-based and realistic and which are built on impractical dogma like their stance on nuclear.
I have sympathy for people doing okay and understand one basic principal. Most people would be happy to pay a bit more if it went on something beneficial to society.
Don’t disagree but we need to discuss the future not his previous views on Corbyn etc. he’s not going to say he hated him at the time.Flip Flop...
