Holidays

Mrs H and myself off to the Far East in Jan/Feb, probably our last long haul trip, appreciate any tips.

Singapore - 3 nights
Cruise:
Ko Samui - 1 day
Bangkok- 2 days
Hi Chi Min City - 1 day
Na Trang - 1 day
Hong Kong - 1 day
Taiwan - transit only, cruise docks there
Kuala Lumpur - 3 days

Never been to that part of the world and was going to do a self planned tour but there's pitfall's for a couple of mid 60's travellers so we've gone for the easy option.

Any must see sights, recommended restaurants, travel tips, etc.

As an aside I only miss home games depending on the draw for the last CL round and the 4th round of the FA Cup. I'm assuming the Arsenal away game will be moved to the Sunday (all CL games following are played Wednesday at 8pm), if it is I'll be in a Bangkok bar cheering the lads on.
Out there round about same time Hammo , land in Singapore on February 1 for 2 nights then off to Koh Samui for 11 nights to meet up with the daughter and her fella who’ve moved over to Oz . Really looking forward to it .

Nice one, should be a good do, we're in Singapore until the 30th then Koh Samui on the 1st! Be great for you to meet up with your daughter, sure you'll have a cracking time.

Cheers, going to keep this post in my photos along with a couple of others, didn't expect to get so much advice, really appreciated.

We're staying near Chinatown in Singapore but I've booked a hotel that's inclusive of all day snacks in addition to breakfast and from 6-8pm there free drinks so we'll probably go in there and have a few cocktails on the house.

Thanks for posting.

Quincy Hotel by any chance?

Though I think a few hotels in Singapore offer the all day snacks type thing.

Has anyone mentioned 4 floors of whores yet?

It's the Furama City Centre Hotel, by no means the most luxurious hotel in Singapore but it'll be fine for us, still quite expensive though but will save a few quid on drinks.

4 floors of whores? Sounds like a Steel Panther song.

Had a great day in Berwick Upon Tweed on Friday at a small but very good Lowry exhibition.
Saturday another great day at the Durham Minefs Gala day.Well worth a visit.
Yesterday, and today, in Anstruther.
A relaxing couple of days doing nothing but drinking and eating from the numerous chip shops, cafes and ice cram shops.
The only football top so far is a young lad with the new City top and Foden 47 on the back.
Sorry no photos.File too large for this site.
I'm off there next week. Can you recommend any trips? Thinking of trying to organise a boat tour if the weather is ok. Will probably do Seahouses and/or Eyemouth.

Not much in Anstruther itself.
Saw a hut for boat trips across from the pub.yForgot the name of the pub but it was good.
St Andrews and Crail quite close
A nice quiet part of Fife great if good weather.

Seville is the best city we've visited. It was our first city break 6 years ago and we've done plenty since.

To check that we didn't mis-remember how good it was, we've included 3 nights there on a mega Spain trip this Christmas (Granada - Seville - Barcelona - Tossa de Mar).

Don't miss the Cathedral/Giralda, the Alzacar and the Plaza de Espana.

And although it's viewed by some as a modern monstrosity, I absolutely loved the Metropol Parasol (Las Setas).

I was in Seville for Christmas last year, and did the walkway at the top of Las Setas You get a wonderful view of the city, especially at sunset. The weather was glorious, as well. Seville is a beautiful city. If you have time, nip across the river to Triana for lunch and the food market.

We’ve got potidea halkidiki in 30 days never been to mainland Greece , we go the day the season starts …so it looks very remote I’ll be watching the match on the Sunday.
Looks a nice area but very quiet and remote. We really like Greece it’s hard not to. Hotels on the beach virtually. Looking forward to it we need a break.

In 2018, our hotel was across the river in Triana, so it was a bit of a walk into the centre. We walked past the market every day. We’ve chosen a hotel in the centre this time. Looking forward to seeing it all at Christmas.

Feliz navidad Rob.

We’ve got this years holiday boxed off to Greece but looking at a cheeky 5 days in Turkey late season never been so would like to visit, what resorts are best with a short transfer time ? Appreciate any help.

F**kin EasyJet.

I know it can’t have been an easy day yesterday but things could have been handled better. My daughters had their first trip without us cancelled yesterday.

The Paris flight was cancelled at 7PM last night. We tracked the plane to Alicante and back, then to Geneva and back and although there were delays, the timing was not bad considering the huge delays earlier.

So why cancel so late in the day? Maybe it was crew being out of time but it feels like EasyJet give up too easily.

We have been in similar situations a few times in the last 12 months and RyanAir have always got us there - including the stormy day before Christmas with a 7-hour delay that saw us land in Barcelona at 2.00 AM.

Then to cap it all, the bastards wouldn’t let them leave the departure area for another 90 minutes.
