This has been very poor transfer window in transfer sense for every team so far.

Why? Arsenal are strengthening with Califiori, looking at Ruiz and strikers. Villa have made good signings to add needed depth for CL. United have added a potentially WC CB and a very talented no 10. Spurs have signed the best talent in the Championship. Chelsea are looking to sign a back up 5th keeper.

Think quite a few teams are happy so far with their windows and prospective deals.

What you are watching is the Premier League committing commercial suicide with its own made up rules rather than let City dominate it. That mixed with too much football. Straight from the end of the season into the Euro’s then on to the Olympics. Not got time for medicals etc.

Or you could look at it another way.

Arsenal's only confirmed signing so far is Raya, who was at the club already last season and has just joined permanently.

Liverpool haven't signed anyone and at the moment there don't appear to be strong links with anyone, either. They've also changed manager which can go way or the other.

Villa have lost one of their best players in Luiz and replaced him with Everton's Onana. Diaby was only there a year but looked decent, and has moved on already. Maatsen may prove to be a good player, bags of potential there. Ross Barkley on a free adds some depth, as do guys they got from Juventus, but we're not talking game changers here.

That's the Champions League clubs, so those you'd consider our main rivals. So it's frustrating that City are quiet so far, but no-one else is taking great leaps so far on terms of squad quality or depth, either.

A top class dm back up? Just don't see anybody willing to be a back up to rodri who's top draw. Kimmich would have been perfect first choice rb who could cover rodri at dm to a very high level. I see us bringing in a world class 8 but next summer to compliment rodri and foden

Sorry mate I meant a hybrid 6/8? We really should have done Bruno to be honest

I don't think we had to do much more than that transfer, but what do we know? Maybe he wasn't 100% committed to the move? We've spent that money on Jack before, so pushing the boat out for someone who desperately wants it shouldn't be a problem, and I doubt we'd have left him, high and dry if he wanted us that much and we wanted him.

Let's hope Rodri doesn't get injured for any length of time, I like Kovacic but if he has to play the 6 role for any length of time I feel it will cost us.
Yeah I no what u are saying but realistically we can't sign a very good dm back up on the chance that rodri picks up an injury I just don't see any player that good accepting that role for us. Phillips is all the proof u need to hard it is to pick up a back up dm good enough to cover rodri and not push for more game time at the right price.

Think Pep would use either Stones or Rico there before Phillips

That's what I'm saying ho mny good dms are there out there that would accept a squad role at the right price never mind the right player for our system. We would want a dm thst controls the game starts and breaks up attacks not just someone who can run very fast around the pitch and press.

The statement was that it was a poor transfer window for everyone so far - not that it's quiet or focusing on just CL teams - and I'm not entirely sure your post disagrees with my opinion.

Wonder who we will sign this summer? My hope is still Guimaraes (or at least Kimmich/Ruiz) to provide cover for Rodri and of course replacements for Eddy/Alvarez should either or both exit.

We defo ned that midfielder mate but i do wonder if because players are still away etc things may happen when they return?
