Are you proud to be a Manc?

Yes. Wythenshawe born and bred.
If and when anyone talks about football and asks me who I support, I always reply with the same “I’m a Mancunian, I support City, of course”.

I expect to be there on Friday and believe only London could otherwise offer me the range of things I intend to do whilst I am around.

Afflecks Palace, Classic Football Shirts and the Arndale will relieve of some pay. If I need to get up to City for the new away shirt then it’s a quick tram ride too.

Liverpool is my nearest city but I rarely visit to buy things.

Reading another thread about coming to 1st City game got me thinking.

Yes I class myself as a proud manc but can't remember the last time I was in Manchester apart from Maine Road and the Etihad.
Shown the kids were grandads and my parents and me lived in Burnage and Didsbury but that's it !

I think next year I'll do a few days and have a proper look round, I think Manchester will have changed from my memories as a 6 yr old back in 1966 lol.

Proud Abbey Hey Gortonian and Manc

Don't use the term manny
Drink Holts and vimpto
Got a twang to my accent but not a fake whine to it and my simian stroll isn't exagertated
er at the end of words doesn't exist is oh or eh (watoh, forteh etc)
in the same note I don't say bokkle or hospikal, I ain't from stockport.
old enough Know salford isn't Manchester and wouldn't insult a salfordian by calling them a manc
Know anything and anyone north of newton heath and east of moston are yonners.
Know there is only one true team in Manchester.
Know Ellen Wilkinson & Shena simon are true femmale Mancunian icons who deserve statues.
Miss the old gardens
Have fell in the ashton/rochdle canal at least once drunk
know it's both muffin and barm and not mutually exclusive to one
Been in the boardwark, hacienda, 42nd street, 5th Ave and the conti club
Like a lot of Manchester music but don't pretend its the be all and end all to prove my manc credentials.
Use the word **** a lot
Lived away 10 years in sunnier, safer, more chilled out places but chose to come back :-)

' Simian stroll ' ............like it. !!

Being "a Manc" has nothing to do with the architecture or the buildings or the shit state of the place in some areas.

Growing-up in Manchester shaped me in to the person I am today. Sharp, funny, self-deprecating, passionate, ruthless, kind, generous, proud, strong, dignified, honest, compassionate, ambitious, loyal, humble and able to empathise.

These are some of the qualities that define "a Manc" and yes I'm proud to be one.
