Dont understand why we have the injured Players on the bench if its not planned to get in at any result. I know its not the perfect solution but if we have no trust in our academy lads rn, when should they step up? I don’t get it only to sit on the bench to not be used as an alternative.
We have plenty of trust as seen throughout the last couple of seasons.
What we don’t do is throw 4/5 on at once in a tricky away game that could have a detrimental effect going forward if it doesn’t go well.

How about "throwing" one in for Gundo maybe? Now that wouldn't be so drastic would it?

On the one hand, we are clearly paying the price for Pep's 'oh I hate leaving players out of the XI so I'd rather just not have any players' philosophy.

On the other hand, this is the first time in nine years that it might genuinely cost us a title. He's earned our trust, surely? Even if I personally would much rather he dealt with a few disgruntled players than this, but clearly his approach works well for the most part.

I think modern football will force him to change. Top managers will learn to keep big squads happy and rotate players to keep them fit. There’s just too many games for any club with ambitions to have such a lean first team.

Having Kevin and Savinho on the bench with no intention of using them was of course a poor decision. A couple of youngsters should have been there.

If fans don't know now how pep managers you not been taking much note of his managerial career!

He is loyal to experience players he mainly never starts a youngster in premier games unless he believes they are of the experience level of standard! That team yesterday from pep was expected by me and don't forget Nunes only now he has given a chance too because he had to and out of position and he has been one of our best players! Maybe Pep should trust players a bit more but we all can't argue about his methods because he has delivered more than delivered!

A true great in a difficult moment because of the reasons for his greatness: small squad of exceptional quality; stubborn adherence to footballing principles; loyalty to key players; unwillingness to take risks with young talent.

At a time of significant injury issues, those exceptional qualities he has are called into question. He cannot change and doesn't want to, nor does he need to: these are uniquely challenging circumstances that are beyond the limits of the current playing squad.

I would like him to play some of the academy players - I think McAtee offers more than Gundo, at the moment, and I think that an academy central defender would have offered more than Akanji or Ake, yesterday, who were both clearly unfit. I suspect that may happen on Tuesday.

I don't really know what his strategy has been for the last two games. We have a lot of injuries yet a fair few made the squad despite apparently being injured. Then others were out of the squad despite their injuries not being known.

Hard not to look more into it and feel there's a bit of a problem going on.

With two good results in recent games it was always going to be tough, so maybe Pep should have rested more midweek to prepare for it...who knows. The changes came too late today though. We were all over the place. Whilst he never wants to lose you almost wonder whether he wanted us to suffer to kick everyone up the arse!

The thing is, Pep's system is highly complicated in achieving a balance between defence and attack. When the balance isn't there, it can give many defects.

Pep can't invent and implement a completely new system because Rodri is injured and other midfielders are aging. He doesn't trust younger players in midfield, as they lack the discipline or experience to implement his requirements.

But there are trade-offs: while the younger players lack some things, they have energy, pace and enthusiasm. It's impossible to calculate the pros and cons in advance, Pep will have to try and see whether the system can be made to work with less experienced but more energetic midfielders.

Some rather hysterical reactions and some obvious trolling. But that performance was shite and the manager deserve some criticism.
Getting beaten is part of the game, as long as it's not all the time. But your comments are fair, we were poor and Pep deserves criticism for some of his decisions yesterday. But we need to look at the bigger picture rather than just yesterday's game. He has a lot of credit in the bank and he gets more right than wrong, but that defeat has been coming and hopefully we can get some players back and this is just a blip.

He's run out of ideas unfortunately. Need to let him go and bring in someone new for next season.
Whilst that's a big statement I do feel we are not the side we were.
Trying to pinpoint it I think we could ask is it
a) the system teams have got used to or b) our players not executing the plan properly, in otherwords would other players do better operating the same system.
I would say it's 75:25 the system plus we do tend to telegraph in advance how we will play.
Pep has normally come up with the answers mid season and the next few weeks will be a big test.

We needed at least 3 new players in the summer to keep momentum. He’s having to juggle old players & a small squad.

The team we have can not produce what pep wants anymore. Very sad way to end his city time if this season is the last

Its Not the fact that we don’t Trust them, more of injured Players on the bench with no sense to use them. If they cant play don’t f*** use them for nothing only to sit there

Some massive overreaction from some City fans, sadly. Some of whom really should know better. One defeat and these people are calling for Pep to go. It's not big or clever, it's downright embarrassing.
