Strange looking building.

It wouldn’t look out of place in New York or Chicago.

People don’t criticise the buildings in New York and Chicago.

I think it looks great. A fantastic looking ‘brick’ building added to Manchester’s other fantastic (Victorian) brick buildings.
Fair enough. Different strokes for different folks.

By the way; how do you know that they don't criticise the buildings stateside? Not wumming you, serious question.

It’s all about opinions and tastes, Jim.

Not aimed at you.

People moan about all the similar looking glass towers going up in Manchester.
People moan about the brick buildings going up in Manchester.
It’s impossible to please everyone when it comes to new buildings being built in Manchester.
With so many new buildings being built in Manchester there will always be some new buildings that are and do look disappointing.
On the other hand there are plenty of good looking buildings that are being built in Manchester.
I go by the average of both.
As a rule I think Manchester does pretty well when it comes to good looking new buildings. Especially compared to other UK cities in particular, and other European and World cities.

As for New York.

I’ve never been to New York. I will go one day Just to walk around New York and to look at the wonderful architecture and buildings, old and new.

Chicago.

2nd picture. You can see similarities in House of Social.

You can just see the 1st of the two 52 storey Contour concrete cores popping up on the Skyline at New Jackson. To the right of South tower, which is currently the tallest tower in Manchester. To be over taken by Viadux 2 in a few years time.

I guess the lack of windows on that side of the building adds to the "strange-ness", for me. I see the narrow strip of windows up the middle, by the way!

The brickwork is very nice, mind.

I get your point.

And when you ask people that don't like glass towers, or people that don't like brick buildings, what they do like, they almost never have an answer. Other than occasionally 'the town hall'.
