Manchester’s Changing Skyline

We are delighted to have commenced work on our next project for @renaker on the Colliers Yard project. The brick and block work package started in the past week and the quality is already on point. With non-combustible cavity trays going in and the Vandersanden facing brick looking fantastic.

Project update: One Victoria Manchester

Construction activities are progressing well at our new residential apartment development in the heart of Manchester for our client One Heritage Group PLC.

The tower crane has been erected, and the site is fully established with a two-tier modular cabin setup. The main core base cast slip form on Block B is currently under construction and expected to be completed this week, and Block A main core slip form works are scheduled to commence next week. Drainage works are currently ongoing.

We know from the visuals, and the fixings, that there will be horizontals bars to come, probably the same size as the diagonals. But I personally think it looks better without them and with just the diagonal lattice. Still can't quite come round to liking it, but those pictures certainly make it look better than the CGIs.

Union towers - 36/32 fl - St John's/Enterprise City - City Centre

36 fl tower under construction

We're very pleased to have reached another milestone at Enterprise City at St. John's in Manchester- the first unitised façade panels are going up on Vita Group's Union T2 co-living development.

Following on from its sister 'T1' development across the road, this latest one incorporates 372 shared apartments, generous amenity facilities, over 20,000 sqft of co-working floorspace and a new commercial unit, all situated right on the banks of the River Irwell.

The facade will be similar to that of T1, in response to the predominating character of the Enterprise City masterplan, with T2 eventually topping out at 112m. Once the river walkway at the front of the building is reinstated, T2 will command great views across the river and towards Aviva Studios, benefitting greatly from the extensive new public realm that has opened in the last few months.

Special praise to RENAKER, Focchi Group, Ramboll, Curtins, Deloitte and the whole DCM team that were involved getting to this point.

All these thousands of new apartments to live in, any new roads to accommodate the increased cars on the City roads ?

This is happening on the gold coast where I live, cranes everywhere more glass towers being built, but guess what, no new roads.

There’s no doubt that Manchester is currently booming, and it’s wonderful that Alliance continues to play such an important role in its transformation.

We’re looking forward to sharing more details about Reedham House very soon!

No new roads. There isn't any space or 'money' to make any new roads in and around the city centre. Better junctions, road layouts and public transport are the only viable options.

I love roof and plant pictures like these. You see things you would never see.

Albit a little small, that's not a bad roof terrace and sun trap(when it is sunny) on the Lighthouse building.

Some incredible aerial shots of the crane getting into action on the Rylands building last week.

Work has been going on for months inside the old Debenhams store but now you'll begin to see activity happening on the exterior of the building.

The crane was installed to remove huge generators that sit in the roof and have been their since it was built in the 1930s.

A look inside what will be the new ground floor shopping arcade in Rylands (and what the space currently looks like!)

The beautiful shopping Arcade will cut through the whole building on the ground floor from Tibb Street through to Market Sreet; comprising of high end retail stores and artisan food and drink outlets.

This is the beautiful stained glass ceiling of the "Cupola" within the Rylands building - there are two within the two towers.

As part of the development they will be carefully and lovingly restored to be a key feature as part of the new Rylands!
