How many points to win the league?

Football is cyclical and this cycle is coming to an end. A combination of bad planning, injuries and other sides getting better and frankly working us out. We are lucky to be on 23 points for me. Our performances on the whole have been poor.

I’ll go one step further and say we’ve been every bit as bad as United this season.

Haaland’s freakish start to the season has papered over some huge cracks in this side. Add the fact we were lucky to pick points up against Fulham, Southampton, Wolves and Arsenal to the recent losses and it’s not a good season so far.

And Brentford.

He does most seasons.. this year he’s opted to take it further and start on the mat sparked out with the count at 9…. Interesting to see how this one pans out!

Nah.. not 9.. but maybe 5 or 6.. we're only at a 3 so far as the season goes anyways.

unfortunately dippers defence is levels above ours. they conceded 6 goals we conceded 17. but their midfield helps defence + their frontline does press too ours dont or just a poor attempt at it.

lose at Anfield after dippers surely beat Soton tomorrow and we look into an 11 point gap just before we have some real hard games still in December. bigger problem any semi decent side can hurt us now by staying compact and just be quick on counters. this is enough to punish this way out of form City side.

the worry signs were there early on when Inter in the first CL game repeatedly were able to cut us open with counters.
since then many losses are down to this and our inability to put away chances.

Pep did nothing to improve this to make us more compact if anything, Anfield will be another of this if Slot is any intelligent. even the one way Postecoglou gave us a beating twice in space of a month.

Just read between doku, silvinho, gundogan, foden, Bernardo, Grealish, kdb and Nunes they’ve scored 3 goals in over 70 appearances in the league this season…. Thats our big issue….!!

We were never prime AC Milan at the back. We didnt play that way. And we miss Rodri obviously, who wouldnt. But that stat is frankly atrocious and embarrassing!!

Close the thread.
It was unlikely once Rodri got injured
Extremely unlikely once we fell 5 behind Liverpool losing to Brighton and Bournemouth

It’s over now. People can point to previous seasons when we’ve been this far behind and come back and won it. We had a proper team then. Not a done right back, and Lewis and a done Gundogan as our midfield

We’ve totally no chance now. We’ve a struggle on to finish top 4 I genuinely think.

We’ll lose next Sunday too.

People can call me negative or doom and gloom, but really we can’t expect to be winning it every year.
We overachieved the last couple of seasons.

I’m content with it and will look forward to the rebuild under Pep.

It’s been poor squad planning the say the least. There was a time when peak Gundo and Mahrez struggled for a first team spot due to the quality we had. They were genuine world class players.

Now we’ve got the likes of Savinho, Doku, Nunes and Kovacic who are good players but nowhere near the world class level.

We’re done. Too 4 priority now. We’ve too many injuries and too many out of gas. Added we sold high and bought fuck all.

Dippers will be 11 clear of us next week and Arsenal have a very easy run for the next 6.

A top 4 PL place, and good runs in the CL and FA Cup are our best hopes for this season.
I agree and nothing wrong with that considering the efforts of the past 8 years under Pep.

Performances need to pick up though and we need to be exciting/fun to watch again.

Can't bring myself to admit it but i'd rather the dippers (now under Slot, never Klopp) win it before the tarquins.
But fuck it here's hoping..... Chelsea do it if we can't/won't
