How many points to win the league?

I’m saying the only way that has been proven to beat prime Peps city to a title is to have an amazing start combined with City having a slow one.

If you are in with a shout during the final run then it’s basically over as has been proven in recent years. The only way to beat Peps City to a title is to build such an early lead that they turn their proper attention to other competitions.

This is what happened when Klopp won the title with Liverpool and Arne Slot will be hoping history repeats itself. I’m not saying it’s our choice but if the opportunity presents itself we have to take it
You only build that early lead based on City's performance, so I am saying it isn't a tactic or an approach anybody can take or use, you just take each game as it comes. If you have a lead in a run in and throw it away that is on you. If you go 11 clear next week and fail to win the league that will be a monumental bottle. Even eclipses Rodgers and was it 21 season you was 8 ahead after 13 games or so, we was 8th and won the league. As I say don't get too carried away just yet, be respectful and enjoy the ride, The last time we lost a title we went on to win the next four ;)

I don’t think I am being disrespectful at all. I think if anything I am being extremely complimentary.

I’m just saying the ONLY way to beat City to a league title is to build a decent early lead and if they are looking vulnerable in the season you must post 10+ wins on the board before a third of the season has been played.

11/10 for Liverpool W on Sunday looks a tempter, it is normally something like 11/4 for them at home against us in recent years, and wasn't expecting that this time, odds against is still value.

For Liverpool to win the title it is 5/6 with most, and everything considered the Home win is much better value, although I wouldn't touch City at 7/2.

If the gap is no more than 8 by the time we play West Ham at home we will have overcome the rough patch with damage limitation and still have a realistic chance.

Reported for coming on here solely to be a **** to another ****.
The only reason the arsenal supporter takes swipes at Liverpool here, is to endear himself to those that will fall for it so he can sneak in passive and sometimes outright open jibes at City.

He is probably away doing the exact same on a Liverpool site, where some think he is balanced for occasionally mocking City.

This whole thing was a bit funny a day or so ago but is now getting tiresome. I'm now just waiting for kaz8 the spurs fan to call Barconnie the chelsea fan a rag, and then we can maybe get back on topic here.

That's why I said he's a ****.

An example of this is someone like BlueMoonRisin. And that is exactly why I came on here to call the Gooner out on it yet ended up being insulted by one of the guys who falls for his sneaky ways.

Different story if somebody's pretending to be a City fan whilst spouting utter drivel, but are we really so spiteful and paranoid that we won't allow a fan from another club to express their opinion?

Oh they are both more than welcome, and as I said before I often openly agree with some thinge bridgeno1 says. No issue with that at all, and happy to engage on a post by post basis.

I'll also say what I think and that is that at least one of them has shown himself to be a fanny.

Anyway.

I'm still not writing us off, for what it is worth.
Me neither. Far from it.

For those thinking/saying the title is gone ... if we were 8 points clear of Liverpool in 2nd place because they were playing shit, would you seriously be thinking the league is already won and getting your Champions 24/25 t-shirt printed?

Would you bollocks!

Not after 8 points but if you were playing them on the weekend and it became 11 there would be massive doubts beginning to creep in. The game at Anfield is massive I’ll go on record and say if Liverpool win we will finish above city in the league this season.

And in my opinion if you finish above City you win the title

I'm not sure this approach would have lasted for 15 months to be honest. Arsenal fans aren't huge Liverpool fans (the reason is Heysel, the constant victim stance, the booing of the national anthem, the violence of their supporters) and there would be no need to 'pretend' to dislike Liverpool to supposedly get in with City fans and if so, what would the point be anyway? Like why would someone go through that charade for 15 months? Surely they'd do it for a month or so and then the mask would fall and they'd start a drunken rant bleating about the stuff some opposition fans chant at City and which I don't need to go into here.

Anyway the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned - I just thought it was weird someone basically copying my username and then starting to stalk me. Water off a duck's back but just make sure when the veneer of 'friendliness' inevitably fades after City get their shit together and start to reel Liverpool in then when he goes off on one just don't confuse his username with mine and mistakenly think I said it.

Let’s just remember this before the tears and tantrums ruin the lives of some on here. And yes, I’m aware of the game in hand

As you say, game in hand, this was also the actual covid year, not the one people throw at Liverpool. What we do know is in this season we didn't lose 5 games on the spin or lose the best player in the world for the season. Of course we can use it as a crumb of optimism but in reality it counts for absolutely nothing. We are a different team to that one and Liverpool are a complete unknown entity with their manager, and that entity is flying sadly.

Tears and tantrums? Or just blues being unhappy that we have played horrendously recently. It is allowed, the preaching needs to stop.

That season, we had a midfield of Fernandinho, Rodri, De Bruyne, B Silva and Gündoğan all playing at a high level and they were all four years younger and fresher than they are now.

We currently have the worst set of fit midfielders we’ve had in the Mansour era.

Our 2008-09 midfield of Kompany, Elano, Ireland and the January signing of de Jong would all get into our current midfield.

Of course the King is on his way back. De Bruyne showed on Saturday that he’s better than all our other midfielders even at 60% fit, and it’s not even close. When he’s back to match fit it’ll make a huge difference.

But the rest of them are barely PL players on performances this season, certainly defensively (Kovačić is still a threat on the ball to be fair to him), never mind clawing back a title gap quality standard.

Yes, tears and tantrums. Some of it is, quite frankly, pathetic and void of any kind of knowledge of what we have done time and time again.

You've been here 15 months, fucking hell pal.

Your mask has indeed slipped a few times and you well know it.

But all good no issue with most of your poats, if I agree I will and if I don't I'll equally engage, if it is worth it.
