Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

What a pile of crap ..FFS so if we were losing every week you would stop watching us..
I wouldn't miss a game either being there or watching it somehow.
Definitely a strange opinion if you are a blue
If we lost 6 in a row, but I saw a decent line-up I'd watch. Not watching Walker playing the whole of Croydon onside and other shenanigans.

We can’t defend for shit !
Crazily a better performance from us but conceding so many soft and avoidable goals is absolutely killing us . We need either Akanji or Ake fit next week for the derby or things could get even worse !

Well done blues.

I'll post before the rags and dippers and city-fans-for-2 years start creating havoc with their wum posts and entitled posts.

Great point. Could come in handy come the end of the season. After not winning in 7 games it's just baby steps for a while. We're dead on our feet, half the team not fully fit yet we've picked ourselves up and won 1 and drawn 1.

Told you this season will be tough, we need to be patient and look at the bigger picture, something most on here forget to do.

Well done boys.
I see people complaining about Pep's selections and subs - look at who we had available ffs.
Doku and Grealish were the only genuine first XI players on the bench (sorry but that's simply the facts), outside gks, both of them need to be managed carefully at the moment or we'll be down another 2 bodies.
I'll take a top 4, which this point helps towards given our situation, and a decent FA Cup run.
It's not being defeatist, and there are reasons we should have mitigated, but some on here need to be less entitled

It's a sad fact of football, but finishing in the top four is worth celebrating as the cash generated by the CL is well worth having, and being in the CL helps to attract top players.
FA Cup or top four? I'd sooner win the cup, but don't fancy rattling around in a quarter-empty Etihad for Thursday League games.
I'd rather win the FA Cup but as you say, the CL is important for money and to the players

If only Rodri is missing, we have a decent chance against any team, even if we are not favourites. But if Stones, Ake, Akanji (3 from our main defenders in the Treble season), Foden, Kovacic, Bobb are also missing, plus Grealish and Doku not completely fit yet, then a point at Palace is more than decent.

If only Rodri is missing we do fine, like at the beginning of the season.

1 win from our last 9 games including 6 defeats , 1 draw and 5 losses from our last 6 away games.

Hard to swallow this falling off a cliff and top four seems well out of reach unless changes are made or players out of form grow a spine along with a much better run of injuries from now on

Injuries haven't helped of course and we are running on empty with a number of starters but it was bound to happen with the lack of appropriate recruitment in the past three / four windows.

The club has rewarded loyalty and banked on players going around one more time and it will cost us this season big time , they know it Pep knows it , it will turn out to be his worst season as manager by a long way but we will fix it.

Collectively and individually, the lack of fitness and sharpness is absolutely fucking wild. They look like the fitness regime is one sit up, a Christmas toblerone and a full pouch of Drum.
AKA the Streetsweeper workout.

Some of these players have had 3 years of constant football with virtually no break to speak of. It was always going to catch up with them eventually and for some nearing the end of their careers I’m surprised this hasn’t come sooner. Klipperty saw this coming with Liverpool’s geriatric midfield and replaced it wholesale before he fucked off. We’re going to need surgery on a similar scale.

Well we've got rid of numerous players deemed not good enough who are now playing in the PL, La Liga and the Bundesliga. So the ones in our current squad should be good enough to play.
You would think so mate seems we just sticking with the same and watching the same thing happen every game

he isnt good enough for where we want to be...he is average defender and a below average midfielder...

does he get in Arsenals back four or the scousers back 4 - no
does he get in liverpools midfield or back 4. - no.
does he get in villas - no
fuck - i doubt he would get in the rags team in either area
I agreed with you he doesn't get in the team when everyone is fit. That said I'm not about to slaughter a kid who has done very little wrong in the previous 2 seasons, now he's hit a bad patch.

It's definitely rebuild time for Pep and the team and we have to recruit a hell of a lot better than the past couple of seasons. And in all departments as well. This team has run it's cycle and it's been an exhilarating ride for sure but it's time to move some of the players on and replace them with quality players or maybe give the likes of McAtee, O'Reilly, Wright and other youngsters more game time.

But with the PSR, APT, FFP restrictions put in place by the PL (or the red cartel to be honest) it's going to be a big ask to recruit quality players as quickly as it is needed.

But they cannot take away the fact we've done a domestic grand slam, the daddy treble, 4 in a row title wins, World Club champions, Super Cup winners. Yet all these numpties from Dipperpool, Tarquinville, Trafford Swamplands and others keep slagging Pep off with "Fraudiola, he can only manage clubs with massive backing behind him, yada, yada, yada". But if they had the chance of taking Pep as their manager, they would have took it like a shot. Anyone who says they wouldn't are lying through their teeth.

I didn't think the result was too bad? I mean, have we all forgotten our form of the last two months?

This isn't just a few injuries putting us under par, there are some real issues with certain players, simple errors that aren't going away etc. No it's not nice to see the general sluggishness going forward but that point isn't bad.
