Crystal Palace (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Chill mate.

This team has come to the end of it's cycle, it's can't go on forever.

What's happening now i thought would happen last year or the one before that but they put their bodies on the line again and again and produced 4 in a row.

This season has caught up with the team. Players are constantly injured because of what they've achieved in the last 4 years. If we can limp it through to January and make a couple of signings then next summer recruit and recruit well we'll be fighting again but this season isn't going to get any easier. If we get top 4 we've done extremely well, that's all we can aim for.
We all need to step back and let this season be the transitional one for going again next year.
it was obvious last year despite the results that some players were at an end howver.
we have also been cryig out for cover for Rodri for two seasons as well so its no suprise to anyone that watches us regularly that as soon as he is out we are in trouble...

It is transitional I agree about that and Im very relaxed about the season as i have no expectations of this team achieving anything this year.

However it isnt wrong to call out the leadership team for being caught on the back foot. they get paid an awful lot of money to sort out what a lot of people have seen coming for a season or more.

For instance:
everyone raving about kdb coming back - some of our best football last season was played without him when he was out injured. ...his decline is obvious....if we dont sort that this summer we will have issues next season but sentimentality from the fans and club will take over...

Rodri himself said in an interview about excessive games and the risk of injury - low and behold look what happens and fans have been saying it for years...lots on here called out the signing of Phillips as not good enough prior to it happening....who would have thought eh?! - nothing done

Walker- everyone saw last year his form fell off a cliff - nothing done

Stones - has been injury prone for years - nothing done

The next one will be Haaland...he is running on empty - not replacing Alverez as soon as Bobb (who as clearly a huge part of our plans for the season) was injured is poor from the hierachy

Bringing back Gundo - such a poor decision - he is the past and should have stayed there - the old sayign, "never go back" in football is there for this reason

Kovacic - was supposed to supplement our midfield.....we are relying ona. player who is already 30 to help save our season - dont get me wrong he hasnt been a bad signing. -BUT its short term thinking from the club

Another difficult day at the office. We are always going to struggle with so many first team players still out and others lacking fitness. Throw in the fact that we appear determined to give away a couple of cheap goals per game and it puts us on the back foot. At least we had it in us to claw it back but we keep giving ourselves mountains to climb.

Ruben head and shoulders today, absolutely outstanding. A one-man defence at times.

We simply need lads back and to have the ability to rotate with some quality.

Gundogan and Bernardo must be near burn out.

Calamitous stuff from Walker, he’s lost pace but also any defensive nous he once had.

The problem (for me) is that at the moment no more than one, max 2, from Walker, Lewis, Gundogan, Nunes and Savinho should be in a starting 11, the fact that we had all 5 makes it a difficult day.

Coping mechanism #1: We won everything, everybody is tired, expected drop in form
Coping mechanism #2: Rodri missing, injuries
Coping mechanism #3: a lot of old, slow players
Coping mechanism #4: hey it is a draw, considering our form it is not such a bad result
Coping mechanism #5: referees are always at hand to help the opposition
Coping mechanism #6: Pep will find some solution, he always does
Coping mechanism #7: have no clue why we turned into pure shit, oh my fucking god I am so angry, but do I show it, naaaaah.....let me post "fuck you all entitled, ungrateful bastards"

We need 8 signings in January to have any chance of making the top four. And yes, I am overreacting.

We beat a shit Forest side and some on here were giddy that we were back, well we're not, we still have the same problems but we will be back, it might just take us some time.
Relax, it's not the end of the world

Sort of expected that result today as soon as I saw the line up.
Rico Lewis is simply fucking not good enough for the levels we expect as a club. Squad player at best
Gundo returning was a bad move however he will always be a legend.
Kyle Walker needs to be moved on asap. Absolute gash defending. Not tracking a runner on a corner is really bad.
Nunes. Shite.
Cups and top 4 now

Injuries have shown up the club for trying to penny pinch now for years. Only pep was keeping it together with a phenomenal rodders.

Now it’s bare and for all to see.

World class? Not anymore.

No at the Forest game we had Ake fit which helped our defence big time, Grealish in midfield also helped, then all of a sudden Ake is out again and Grealish "feels unwell" whatever the fuck that means, and Akanji out too means we have to play both Walker and Lewis, you can't have any consistency when you constantly have to change your defence which gets zero protection from the non existent midfield anyway.
I think there's a lot in that.
The links ups against Forest often involved Jack, Jeremy, and Josko was further forward. Akanji is also quite smooth on the ball so some of our best performers missing.
