Yes . That`s the Heald Green / Handforth junction just around the corner from me . It`s been flooded often in the past but not to that extent . The MAER was also closed between Styal Rd and the Airport earlier . Not sure on how the Bramhall junction faired as that`s liable to flooding too .

It will indeed
The Bridgewater canal isn’t maintained by the Canal and River trust, it’s owned ultimately by Peel holdings
That's Peel Holdings that owned the the Trafford Centre*. Also owns loads of land all along the canal and the billionaire owner of the same lives in the Isle of Man as a tax exiles.

* sold in 2011 for 1.6 billion pounds

So as you say, it will take ages to fix.

Lived in and around Stockport for 30 years and have never known flooding like this. Even parts of the A6 that have never flooded before and are nowhere near a source of water, up near the Alma Lodge, are underwater. Bonkers stuff.

I tried to get to Tesco in Stockport today. Blocked off by the Police.

That’s a brand new apartment development.

If the councils cleared up fallen leaves in Autumn and sucked debris out of all the grids, then the problem would be nowhere near as bad as it is.

Correct. My neighbour has been pleading with MCC to clear the drains of debris and leaves in the avenue. They haven’t. The drains are blocked and the street got flooded last night. MCC have stopped doing the basics, even though they keep on putting up council tax. They are fucking useless. What has Beth Craig been doing since she became MCC leader?

I got onto my local councillors (Oldham) about this in October and then again November and the total lack of them clearing the road gulleys. I’ve been promised it’ll happen in June this year. If properties are under threat of flooding they’ll look at bringing it forward. Joke.

well we were got with this at home in Romiley this morning - the one and only grid being fed by a clark drain right around the back of my property got bunged up by leaves - result was water in the utility room and also in the garage too - whilst not a patch on the dramas others are having and going to have for the next few months, still a ballache to sort it all out this morning!

You can’t blame the council, they are skint. Too busy bailing out FC United!
