Now a second breach on the Bridgewater canal, twice the size of the first
Expensive and tricky to fix, with higher banks needed too.Now a second breach on the Bridgewater canal, twice the size of the first
Looks like it has possibly failed where the River Bollin runs in a culvert beneath the canal. That will cost a serious amount of money and time to fix.Now a second breach on the Bridgewater canal, twice the size of the first
Yes . That`s the Heald Green / Handforth junction just around the corner from me . It`s been flooded often in the past but not to that extent . The MAER was also closed between Styal Rd and the Airport earlier . Not sure on how the Bramhall junction faired as that`s liable to flooding too .A555 near Lakeland (I think), often floods, never seen it anything like this bad though

That's Peel Holdings that owned the the Trafford Centre*. Also owns loads of land all along the canal and the billionaire owner of the same lives in the Isle of Man as a tax exiles. It will indeed
The Bridgewater canal isn’t maintained by the Canal and River trust, it’s owned ultimately by Peel holdings
Ahem, unfortunate turn of phrase in the circumstances. My heart goes out to anyone who lives in a flood area. There can't be anything worse than the damage caused by water in your property and add to that the fact that insurers won't touch you with a barge pole after the first time.
No chance of it being fixed if those tight twats own itIt will indeed

If the councils cleared up fallen leaves in Autumn and sucked debris out of all the grids, then the problem would be nowhere near as bad as it is.
I got onto my local councillors (Oldham) about this in October and then again November and the total lack of them clearing the road gulleys. I’ve been promised it’ll happen in June this year. If properties are under threat of flooding they’ll look at bringing it forward. Joke.If the councils cleared up fallen leaves in Autumn and sucked debris out of all the grids, then the problem would be nowhere near as bad as it is.
When my dad was a mere whippersnapper, he and his friends used to swim there in the recycled warm water reservoirs which was used to cool the machinesI tried to get to Tesco in Stockport today. Blocked off by the Police.
That’s a brand new apartment development.

All I see is the fallen leaves getting blown by guys with blowers and not getting picked up. Where do the fallen leaves end up ?If the councils cleared up fallen leaves in Autumn and sucked debris out of all the grids, then the problem would be nowhere near as bad as it is.
well we were got with this at home in Romiley this morning - the one and only grid being fed by a clark drain right around the back of my property got bunged up by leaves - result was water in the utility room and also in the garage too - whilst not a patch on the dramas others are having and going to have for the next few months, still a ballache to sort it all out this morning! If the councils cleared up fallen leaves in Autumn and sucked debris out of all the grids, then the problem would be nowhere near as bad as it is.
You can’t blame the council, they are skint. Too busy bailing out FC United!Correct. My neighbour has been pleading with MCC to clear the drains of debris and leaves in the avenue. They haven’t. The drains are blocked and the street got flooded last night. MCC have stopped doing the basics, even though they keep on putting up council tax. They are fucking useless. What has Beth Craig been doing since she became MCC leader?
