Was superb for the short time on the pitch. Had we kept him on all game, Phil could have replaced Savinho or De Bruyne and we would have had a lot more control. The ball to Gvardiol was brilliant yet again. He knows when to drive with the ball and when to hold position. Hope he isn't out for long as it's another set back just as his form was improving.

Like what happened last season again Grealish for virtually none game time in January and after a little bit warm up in cup game he started in one of the toughest game of the season and picked up injury in the first half.

As pep once said himself players in big build need ramping up games to build fitness. Otherwise they get injury often.

Quality is there but for some reason Pep only plays him in only one position which limits his chance of getting game time. The situation comes to bite both the player and the team.

The situation does not benefit the player or the team. It is better if he can move to a different environment with a more central role.

Ever since Christmas 2023 he's just... not produced. He's almost always either injured, unwell, or "not quite ready yet". Perhaps he just wasn't cut out for properly elite football on a long-term basis.

I'm starting to wonder if he gave so much of himself - physically and mentally - during the run to the treble that he just deflated in the aftermath and has been a bit burnt out ever since. Perhaps that's all his body could give and what separates your De Bruynes and Agueros, etc. from your Nasris, Grealishes, etc.
I think it's going to be a seriously uphill battle for Jack now that he's approaching 30 and I'm not sure he's got the fortitude - physically or mentally - to battle back with Savinho now in favour.
Can only repeat myself, unfortunately.

I love Jack and always will but it's just one injury too many now.

Looked really unwell when he went off down the tunnel. Hope he’s ok. Gutted for him.

Looked like he got a twinge challenging for a ball on their goal line, then didn’t appreciate the hit and hope that forced him to run 40 yards for nothing. It was clear he couldn’t sprint and I think he called it.

Upper right leg, I think.

It's an odd one because pep seems to really fancy him in these big games. if you look at the treble season, he was pretty much the first name on the team sheet in the big games. But it seems like he doesn't really seem to fancy him that much in general in the league and it feels it's like he can never really build up momentum or maybe proper match fitness

I never really know what to make of it. Pep obviously rates him highly or he wouldn't play him in games like today or the finals he played in but he never seems to get given a proper run of games either.

Seen the same. Unexpected start for him tonight. Was going well and then another injury. It’s just not going to happen for him here unfortunately. He’s back to square one

He makes such a difference to the team when he's on song. Some people still don't realize that while he might not be scoring lots of goals, he occupies defenders, which then creates more space for others. He had them on toast until he had to go off. Bringing on Foden for him in this game was a downgrade.

When you expect Pep to pick Grealish he doesn’t use him and that includes sometimes off the bench. Yet Pep then picks Grealish when one wouldn’t expect him to pick Grealish, bafflingly as you state.

Although in the Madrid game it’s fair to say, Jack had a positive impact before his injury.

I think it's a motivation issue, Grealish needs a rocket up his arse to get the best out of him, he seems to have a lot of self doubt, when he is wound up that disappears and we see the best of him.

Well playing him only twice a month, when he’s playing relatively decently, is probably where that self doubt would come from. Add watching de Bruyne, Gundo and Kova get loads of minutes more than him for comparatively much worse performances and it’s tough to stay motivated.

He has had a very poor season and some of Pep's comments sound like he has not trained well.

Pep has put a lot of faith into him (100M) he has done more than anyone at the club to help Grealish.

There are a good few others we can say have had worse seasons than Grealish who play at least a game per week. How does Kova who consistently makes mistakes like the one that led to Bellingham’s goal continue to get blessed with minutes? How does Gundo consistently let runners get beyond him which leads to our defense being overrun and play double pivot every week? Forget training, these are performances in live matches that lead to goals and dropped points which don’t get punished but are instead rewarded with more minutes.

Pep can’t have that much faith in Jack since he’s misplaced most of it in our same old tired and overwhelmed midfield options. There’s a lineup where we can use Grealish’s abilities behind our young wide players, Marmoush and Haaland while adding energy to the midfield but unfortunately Pep doesn’t seem to want to tinker with that of all things.
