The Labour Government

I couldn't think of anything more ridiculous than wanting someone arrested for silently praying. Do you really think you're on the right side of history with those Stalinist beliefs?
The guy knew of the exclusion zone so emailed before what he was going to do and asked to be arrested. The police spent 1h and 40 mins asking him to move not wanting to arrest him.

He just wanted to get to court and that is why they made him pay the costs.

Forget rights or wrongs about abortion, it was a message to people who want a day in court in principle. It is very easy to pray and no one notice, he acted like an idiot.

Apparently so. Still, it makes a change from being called a comrade the other half of the time.

Being more serious for a moment it serves to prove why centrist parties win elections in the UK. The voting population typically like moderate policies that are seen to be fair, we only tend to disagree how to achieve them even though we largely want the same outcomes.

That just corroborates what he was saying, the UK is arresting people for silent prayer on the streets if you're within a certain distance of an abortion clinic.

The only dispute is whether you can be arrested in your own home for it in Scotland but that's almost by-the-bye, you shouldn't be getting arrested for praying full stop.

A policeman spent nearly two hours talking to him, and trying to persuade him to move away from the front of the abortion clinic. There aren't many laws where you'd get that kind of leeway, before being arrested.

As with most cases like this, it's presented as being something completely normal, and simple, where the man couldn't possibly be having an effect on anyone, but I suspect if he's just standing silently 30-40 metres away, quiet in his own thoughts, and not engaging with anyone, then this doesn't happen.

I accompanied a friend to a clinic a few years ago, and spoke to the Christians waiting outside, while she was in the clinic. Very few people take having an abortion lightly, and it's quite a scary and private experience to have to go through. The law came in because if increasingly intimidating tactics being used around clinics, and seems to have worked in most cases. However, when you're vulnerable, and want privacy, even a single person standing in your way, mouthing words silently to themselves, while holding a bible, and staring at you as you pass, can be hugely intimidating.

If he wanted to pray, then he could do it on 99.9999% of this country's land area. To be standing in front of a clinic with the intention of intimidating people into not entering, isn't just praying.

Might be time to consider mobile abortionists that do home visits to solve this issue. If we can do this with hairdressers and botox then I don't see why abortions can't be done on a 'chips away' franchise model.

I agree and it’s why the purple barbs don’t work. Most people are.

It’s the ones calling them that that are the outliers.

fucking weirdos standing outside abortion clinics ....need a good slap never mind arresting immediately.

The "simpler" abortions would be just taking a pill at home, so a lot of those in clinic will be there because it's more complex. If it's a medical procedure, I'd be wary about adding to the risks, when the changes to the law do seem to have made a difference for clinics.

Sadly, it wont be a wake up call, though I wish it was, to many people (many on here) are still blind to what's going on in both Europe and western countries around the world.
How anyone can defend this current government is beyond me, and when someone like Vance shows you the obvious, people bury their head in the sand.
Sorry mate, you’re fucking nuts just like KDBot and the other bellends who liked your post.

Have you seen some of the uneducated shit posted on here lately? I’ll debate with anybody but has to done from a level of fact, even opinion on fact, not some drivel that has just been made up and disseminated further without any critical thinking.

Saying that, I see where you’re coming from. And that’s why I mainly drive past your posts.

Hopefully we’ll have a good afternoon on the pitch.
I agree your 'opposition' will act but I don't belong to a camp so I can readily see how both can act in the same way without seeing it. The day you call.out a Labour/Starmer suppprter on here for insults, lies or hypocrisy and the odd post of yours is actually a bit negative of Labour then you will have cracked it.

Anyhow I'm expecting a toughie today so fingers crossed we get a result.

Not really that's a presumption that those voting Labour or Tory are mainly moderates, they ain't. What the public want is great public services whilst keeping most of their own dosh. We have lots of safe seats whose results are based on the wealth of those that live there.
Throw in that only 2 parties can win an election anyhow then the idea that British voters are typically into moderate policies soon washes away.

Labour MP lies - Resign! Call a by election! Remove this scum from politics!

Tory MP lies - They misspoke. Weren't fully aware of the facts. Oh Boris you lovable scamp!
I think starmer himself has had at least as easy or even easier ride than Boris with lies, but the Rachel reeves CV thing is just ridiculous.
