Wharton hasn’t really recovered from his last injury, and he’s had one good season in the prem. Massive risk for massive money. Not saying he’d be another Phillips but who knows.
I don’t think that’s a valid reason not to sign someone. That’s more than most for a young player.Wharton hasn’t really recovered from his last injury, and he’s had one good season in the prem. Massive risk for massive money. Not saying he’d be another Phillips but who knows.
I don't think he will make it with us, since he has been here has Pep ever signed someone, loaned them out to a different club and then played them regularly upon return? Genuine question , as I can't remember him doing it.Perrone is actually pretty good.. don't dismiss that kid, I have a feeling he can make it with us.

He has let players like Alvarez stay at their club for the season before joining us, but it seems like as with youth players, if you are good enough he wants you in the squad and not out on loan.
Zinchenko the only one I can think of off hand. You are right though its generally a bad sign for a player if we loan them out, I thought Mcatee might break through but thats been a waste of timeI don't think he will make it with us, since he has been here has Pep ever signed someone, loaned them out to a different club and then played them regularly upon return? Mediocre at best.
A cheaper option who was brought back to try his luck and also to learn from being part of the first team. He was realistic of his overall chances. We don't need Wharton who will have similar chances of making it at City.Didn't you think we didn't need Wharton as we had McAtee, prem proven and able to drop deeper?
watched his two games back from injury, so much to like about his game. Hope he stays fitNow he’s fit again, he’d be a perfect addition to the midfield to replace Kovacic or Gundogan in the summer. He’s going to be a top player.
He’s going to be a star, & if we don’t snap him up another top club will do, no disrespect to palace
They bought Esse instead, players swaps are PSR or rare as fuck. Doubt we do anyPalace want mcatee so maybe something there between the clubs?
think it'd be the other way round. Wharton is more of an 6/8 and Nico is more of an 8/6 (if that makes sense) Either could combination with Rodri or in place of. All 3 give a solid DM and CM base in the midfield 3 with an AM.Good prospect, but with Rodri and Nico, I’d suggest we now have sufficient defensive cover, and if Wharton were then to play in a more attacking role, I’m less convinced that he has the guile we would need.

The biggest thing in his favour, potentially, is his home grown status.Good prospect, but with Rodri and Nico, I’d suggest we now have sufficient defensive cover, and if Wharton were then to play in a more attacking role, I’m less convinced that he has the guile we would need.
Possible, but, for me, Wharton is a little slight still and shorter than both. I also think Guardiola is enamoured with the fact that Nico has Barcelona DNA, which means he instinctively understands what is demanded when playing at the base. Palace also have Wharton contracted through 2029 and would understandably want a King’s ransom for him. I suspect that we’ll continue shopping outside of England in the summer.think it'd be the other way round.
