Russian invasion of Ukraine

RUSSIAN REGIME ‘PETRIFIED’ BY THREAT OF THE DEMOBILISED

Putin is said to be more than concerned about what to do with probably 300-400,000 demobilised troops once a ceasefire is obtained.
The state can’t afford to keep paying them so will have to send them home. The speed of this process is likely to be fairly rapid with large numbers making their own way back because they won’t wait for the military to arrange it. That leaves the prospect of illegal weapons in civilian life.
The level of discontent amongst those returning is known to be high. The government fears a backlash as the reality of the front gets out amongst the general public. Add to that there’s what happens to these men in terms of jobs and post war care? Are they returning to a life of basic destitution having fought for their country?
Russian history is peppered with disgruntled army returnees setting off disturbances and even revolution in 1917-19.
Programs to get military personnel into government jobs are being pushed but there are nowhere enough to go around.
An attempt to offer land in conquered areas of Ukraine to soldiers to act as colonisers is not working well either - leaving authorities wondering what to do about handling so many semi angry men who feel hard done by is a difficult problem. One that frightens the government because they know if mishandled, where this can go.
Meanwhile N.Korean forces have been left to starve in Kursk after repeated failures to deliver supplies. Ukrainian Forces cut them off using drones and the Russians failed miserably to break the drone blockade.
Mass surrenders of N.Koreans are expected.

I'm sure I'm not the only person on this forum that finds it morally repugnant that the good old usa is attempting to steal Ukraine's natural resources at its time of greatest need.

Some people have no morals.

Hopefully history will judge them accordingly.
No judgement for evil in this world. Countries still beat their chest and brag about their role in slavery, descendants of blood thristy tyrants are still in the highest places in the world, just look up the descendants of King Leopold in Belgium, the richest families in America got their wealth from the era of slavery.

You have people cheering Trump on for posting an AI video on his Twitter account that shows his "vision" for Gaza, this vision includes the Trump tower and a massive golden statue of Trump right in the middle of Gaza, you have people saying things like "teaching kids about the civil rights movement is Anti-American".

If you believe in Christianity then maybe there could be some solace there but if you really want to be as pragmatic or realistic as possible, then yeah there's no justice, not in the past, not now and not in the future.

I can see where you're coming from, but there is hope, even if not universal.

In the siege museum in Sarajevo is a video featuring Radovan Karadzic. He's in the mountains above the city hosting a Russian author as a guest(!). The author is invited to mount a large fixed machine gun and take pot shots at the inhabitants below in the city, which he gleefully does.

1,500 children were killed in the siege, most deliberately targeted by snipers, not collateral damage.

Radovan Karadzic is now serving life in Parkhurst, the UK taking responsibility for his incarceration after his sentencing in the Hague.

No doubt he will send them to the front line to get killed off he will worry about uprisings when the truth comes home

This is what every country has been eyeing up from the start. Nobody is doing it from the goodness of their hearts, we will be getting a piece of them too no doubt

Was there a point that I missed when it became ok for stupid English people to slate Ukraine and Zelensky and describe the war as a con on the rest of the world, and Ukraine's fault? I ask because there's a City supporting FAcebook page called "Dead But Never Read" who posted a City badge in the Ukrainian colours and got engulfed with furious messages from City fans. I was shocked.

Is the influence of Trump and Farage on the thickos?

Sadly yes. Fascism is on the rise once again.

Thick cunts seem especially suggestible to Russian bots.

Not everyone in America is in agreement with Trump these are republicans edit I wouldn’t call it amazing

Zelensky speaking now
Co owners partners equal rights on mineral rights, about a fund a future agreement will have to be ratified by the Ukrainian Parliament
Ukraine so nothing is agreed yet, Zelenskyy doesn’t know the detail yet of a framework agreement with America.
He won’t be drawn on how much.?
He’s speaking in English now but he won’t be drawn on how much or guarantees.
I wish people would ask our own politicians about the United Nations vote by America.

Cont: explains it’s a Pandora box if one country wants a share of the rare earth metals every country will want a share/repayment that gave money.
Nothing will work without security guarantees the war won’t be finished without them.

Still bloody awful they are even having to do this, can we go back to USA and ask for our money back from gulf war 2? I’ll be fuming if we join them in any future conflicts without asking for payback.

I don't personally understand what's in the deal, so the following may be well off the mark, but my best understanding is

1) Trump thinks it's payback to the US. Ukraine is happy for the orange idiot to believe that.
2) It's actually a fund to reconstruct Ukrainian industry after a peace settlement. US provides capital, Ukraine pays back some sort of levy (I don't really understand that bit)
3) It's good for Ukraine regardless of security as they need funding
4) It gives US economic incentive to ensure long term Ukraine security so they don't lose their investment.

The guy I quoted is a negotiating expert and is *very* pro Ukraine. If it was bad for the country he'd be saying so I think.

So Putin and Russia get to keep what they stole, save face and no doubt get all their assets back and in return the US takes from Ukraine for years to come with no NATO, no EU allowed, just some vague security guarantees that the US would never allow Russia back in now it’s got its hands on Ukrainian minerals.

Meanwhile the world goes back to doing its dirty business with each other like before.

I don’t see this any other way right now tbh.
