RUSSIAN REGIME ‘PETRIFIED’ BY THREAT OF THE DEMOBILISED
Putin is said to be more than concerned about what to do with probably 300-400,000 demobilised troops once a ceasefire is obtained.
The state can’t afford to keep paying them so will have to send them home. The speed of this process is likely to be fairly rapid with large numbers making their own way back because they won’t wait for the military to arrange it. That leaves the prospect of illegal weapons in civilian life.
The level of discontent amongst those returning is known to be high. The government fears a backlash as the reality of the front gets out amongst the general public. Add to that there’s what happens to these men in terms of jobs and post war care? Are they returning to a life of basic destitution having fought for their country?
Russian history is peppered with disgruntled army returnees setting off disturbances and even revolution in 1917-19.
Programs to get military personnel into government jobs are being pushed but there are nowhere enough to go around.
An attempt to offer land in conquered areas of Ukraine to soldiers to act as colonisers is not working well either - leaving authorities wondering what to do about handling so many semi angry men who feel hard done by is a difficult problem. One that frightens the government because they know if mishandled, where this can go.
Meanwhile N.Korean forces have been left to starve in Kursk after repeated failures to deliver supplies. Ukrainian Forces cut them off using drones and the Russians failed miserably to break the drone blockade.
Mass surrenders of N.Koreans are expected.
