Dennis Tueart - 50 Years A Blue

I was 15. Watching it in boarding school with a bunch of united, Leeds and Arse fans. Boy I wound 'em all up. "Best cup winning goal everrrr!" etc. I loved Dennis,
I was 8 years old my first ever City game sat on row 1 just under number 7's elbow
My Dad promised me a ticket if they beat Boro, stayed Fri night near Heathrow and Sat morning Wembley was full of Geordies until the city buses started to arrive
What a day and my Dad managed to get back to Lancs for last orders which pleased him

The Boro semi second leg at MR was an epic awesome night, i remember listening to the radio
with my dad when we lost the first leg 1-0 and being so distraught, he told me to relax and 1 nowt was nowt to
be worried about,he was right, what a night on the Kippax the 4-0 second semi final was, almost better than the final.

Blimey 50 years !! Loved Dennis and was gutted when he left in 78 and in his prime to go to the States of all places!!
He came back thankfully
Still remember the 5 v 1 league cup match when he got 4. Had the pleasure of meeting him as a Junior Blue.

One of the greatest nights ever at Maine Road.

As many on here say, my original City hero in my original fave line up. He was tearing up the league in 81-82, something like 12 goals in 15 games -we were top at Xms and had just battered the dippers 3-1 at Klanfield, we had Trevor Francis in that team as well as a very talented Clive Wilson and I really thought we had a chance of winning the title. Think he got a serious injury around that time and the team slowly fell apart, dippers leathered us 5-0 at Maine Road as revenge and we finished mid table, came back from injury in 82-83 but wasn't the same player.
He got a season ending injury home to Sunderland just before Christmas and as you say had been on fire. You're right that after Christmas it went to shit, not helped by Francis being injured a lot. But really it was injuries that did for us - remember Paul Power had the season of his life the year before but got a long injury, Tommy Hutch faded badly after Christmas, Gerry Gow injured most of the season. Wilson and Kinsey came through with real promise

Seen him a few times knocking around Altrincham when I've been working.
Still looks fit as a fiddle.
