Russian invasion of Ukraine

I do wonder if Trump sides with Russia completely how do the military react, I know he’s put some people he likes in charge but surely there must be a point when they think this is crazy, could we ever see a coup, especially if he starts going against the constitution and clearly breaking laws.
Tend to agree. I don't think half the US forces would be happy with this, and when you factor in plenty of that half will be the higher ups, I don't think he'll have meaningful support from the military.

I keep asking myself why are the EU keeping this war going. It could have been stopped when he went into the Crimea. Nothing was done then. Big mistake, not all countries in EU want a war, not all countries want to keep pouring money in, why are we? Our politicians are liars and they definitely don’t speak for me. I’m leaving it at that on here, because on a forum there are very entrenched opinions, I just can’t see anything good about going headfirst into a war. Blair, who, next to United, I dislike (probably can’t say hate without being arrested) led us into the last war and look who we’ve got in again!

A Russia that has natural resources it can sell to Europe and build its economy being integrated into the world rather than causing wars is surely a better pathway from where they are now.

Unfortunately our politicians over the last 15 years have been too soft with Russia which has emboldened them. They let then have Crimea when they should have been sidelined as country back then. Allowed a Malaysian Airliner to be shot down and did nothing, let Russian operatives use a chemical weapon on British Sovereign soil.

Russia flies its planes into our airspace, has its submarines sat in our waters causing mischief. It’s constantly using cyber warfare on Infrastructure across Europe. It uses jamming equipment to disrupt commercial aircraft which luckily hasn’t resulted in any accidents as of yet. It tampers with undersea lines for communication.

Like it or not we are at war with Russia, they want their old soviet borders back and they dangerously don’t care how many people get killed in the process. Should we just roll over and let them in the front door? Has the U.K. or the EU acted as the aggressor towards them? This could be easily solved if one side stopped and forged a better path for their country.

Some people just aren’t capable of understanding what we are dealing with here, or simply don’t want to. It’s easier for them to stick their heads in the sand. But ignoring it won’t make the very real threat disappear.

I agree with all that, absolutely. Simply put Putin is like a wounded animal, wants back what he thinks belongs to him. Very, very difficult to deal with. Dangerous etc etc but … haven’t the other wars taught us anything? We once met a soldier, in Cyprus. After the Iraq war. Someone had lent him a Villa to recuperate. He had PTSD, I’ve never forgotten how it affected him. Life ruined really. These people who are eager to go to war now really annoy me, it’s a terrible thing. Get round a table, it really is the only way. I don’t want any soldiers fighting a war anymore.

If rioters can storm the capitol building, kill and injure people and receive pardons for their convictions. The American public who see their country turning into a laughing stock on international diplomacy should be invading the Oval Office and dragging these two clowns out of there.
Trump has stated that "Those who save their country commit no crimes".
So does that mean if that happens, they should all go free afterwards?
Trump could hardly complain as he said it's ok!

And when he says “Nyet” and rolls across the border? Then what?

You said it yourself…this is not about “Russia” it’s about one man.

One thing we should be doing is telling the Yanks to take all their nuclear missiles, strategic bombers and other equipment off European soil if this is the direction on foreign policy they want to pursue. They’ve used us as buffer for any attack from Russia and China for too long if they are deciding to abandon a country that’s been illegally invaded.

Absolutely you think with the lessons learned from Two world wars, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan etc as a human race you cant impose your ideologies on another country that doesn’t want them. Things seemed to stabilise for the world after the fall of the iron curtain, now we are back where we were with some very truly horrible people in Trump, Putin and Xi not giving two fucks about who they step on.

You do understand this was an invasion right?
Putin wants the whole of the Ukraine and all history of Ukraine deleted.
Putin can stop tomorrow and go home. If the Ukraine stops, it no longer exists. Ukrainians would rather be dead than live under Putin. Putin's/Trump's language has tried to make out the Ukraine was somehow the aggressor.
It's their choice whether to keep fighting, try to agree a peace deal or surrender, not yours.

You are incredibly naive when it comes to Putin. This guys has never kept to a single agreement.
So any peace deal HAS to have a deterrent. A solid guarantee from the US and others that would prevent this happening all over again if Putin re-arms and has another go. That is all Zelensky was asking for. Have the minerals, but put in a security backstop. Trump doesn't want this as i think he has other ideas...maybe a carve up?

This simpler way would be to further arm the Ukraine and stop any restrictions how to use those arms. More sanctions on other nations supplying this murderer.
Then wait until Russia runs out of money and arms/meat. As a minimum, it would also weaken Russia in any future peace agreements.
Yes that does mean more deaths, but with Putin gone, he can never come back for more.

I will say it again though, this should be the Ukrainians deciding what they want, NOT Trump or anybody else.

In all honesty I’d rather be allied with China than the US right now.

Not saying that at all, it’s a whole lot of other things. My two aunts whose 18 year old boyfriends were killed in WW1, who never married and spent their lives as spinsters, all the other young men who’ve sloped off to war at other people’s bidding to come back ruined. War is terrible I don’t believe we are in danger.

No-one wants us to go to war with Russia. But if there is no deterrent he will continue pushing into Ukraine and eventually move into other countries as well.

America is no deterrent, so Europe needs to step up.

Doing nothing won't stop war, it will make it worse.

But who’s driving all this hate. You can’t impose your ideologies on other countries, absolutely. But that’s it, no one is doing that to us. We are told about these horrible people by the MSM but apart from the country getting much poorer by the week, we’ve only their word for it. We are played all the time, hate whipped up, give more money away. We’ll see where it all ends.

RuSSia does not, never has and never will, recognise Ukraine or its right to exist. They consider all Ukrainian people as stupid pesants and constantly state that they were on the Nazis side during WW2.
How can you get any meaningful commitment from a country like that. The only thing ruSSia recognise is strength, offers of negotiating is seen as a sign of weakness.

Because the USA have become cowards and put the Dollar before everything, just look at Rubio, an utter coward that sat on his hands during the Zalenski shambles in the Oval Office and looked like a ghost, yet for years was happy to tell the world not to trust Putin. He clearly has sold out to Trump and the $$$$$ for personal gain.

This is happening the world over, shit house grifter politions who don't care anything about the people that vote for them, just want to massage their huge ego's and gain as much financially as possible.

So you're happy for Ukranians to be wiped off the map. Where is your red line when Putin wants another piece of Europe?

I think you need to wise up blue
