North Stand Construction Discussion

As wee all know, what's important are the hotel rooms and the service. If you can get those right, most people don't care what a branded hotel looks like.

Big claim that too.

There are people that Do care.

Let's me honest mate, the vast majority of people don't turn up at a Premier Inn or a Travel
Lodge looking at the building/architecture, and think that looks like a pile of 70', 80's or 90 crap, so I'm not staying there. Most people know what they are going to get from a Premier Inn and a Travel lodge, so are happy to stay there regardless of what the building looks like.

I recently stayed at the Wolverhampton Premier Inn.

The service was good, The room was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. The building looked crap.

I'm sure you'll agree with me, the Medlock hotel rooms and service will be 1st class.

TBH I'm not a fan of the hotel.

But I won't dwell on it again.(and again, and again......)

The hotel isn't going to change now. We have to accept that. We're best moving on from the hotel subject and instead concentrate on all the positives the stand and hotel will bring to the fans and the club.

It's been a really good week construction wise on the stand.

I'm going down on Sunday to take some pictures.

The thing is. There have been plenty of people that have said they don't like the hotel. Or that they think it looks crap. Or anything inbetween.

This has been countered by - moaning fuckers, what do you expect, hotels are shite anyway, as long as the bed is comfortable who cares, etc etc.

But nobody, not one fucking person, not once in 1647 pages and counting, has actually said they actually LIKE the hotel. Not once that I have seen.

Somewhat telling.

I'm not sure that equates to people not caring.

I am not completely disagreeing btw, just broadbrushing a bit less.

To be fair, most people (such as myself) don’t have the experience/insight to truly assess the building from the planning apps and visual mock ups.

I will need to wait until I actually see the finished article before I’m able to give an opinion of whether I like it.

Also, to my untrained eye, I reckon there’s a decent chance I will like it.

Not everything can be award winning like Fort Dunlop. People I met at Shed KM two decades ago were really proud of it.

I did as well. :-)

Stop swearing. :-(

It's not like you.

It is what it is now.

Let's move on from how it looks externally.

It will probably look superb inside.

I'll definitely book a room. But not on a match day, or on a Coop Live Arena night.

I have always been open to that fwiw. And to waiting to see more of it being built or the mock-up at least.

But it is also ok for people to have opinions, at any time. And to change their mind.

Re swearing, it IS like me, unfortunately. But nothing to be read into that. Agreed.

I don’t mean removing a chunk - I’m talking about removing it completely.

The north stand roof will be held up by the two big new quad pods independently of the cable net.

Why can’t the existing 8 spirals be used in the same way so that there are additional new wires attached that hold the east and west roofs up independently of the other stands…
Ahh, not what I was thinking. Interesting thought, really don't know the answer to that one though.
