He also won the free-kick which lead to our goal, much like he did against Madrid (although that was obviously a meaningless goal). That’s a good skill to have - people often laud Grealish’s ability to win fouls but most of them are about 50 yards from goal!
 
Ask yourself, from what you've seem from O'Reilly and McAtee who would you rather keep?

For the style that Pep wants to play, you need to be highly creative as a attacking midfielder to earn a place.
 
tidy midfielder with a strength in passing, constantly used in a system/lineup with no runners. Wasnt impressed with him yesterday but also aware they setup wasnt great for some players.
 
Problem is we have a surplus of players able to play in this role. Foden and KDB more trusted by Pep (despite form this season), Marmoush is a newcomer and Bob will be back soon. Macca needs to impress when he’s in because he doesn’t have the credit or the rep of the others, and I’m not sure he offers enough. Think he’d be happier and more successful at another club as he doesn’t lack talent.

Id keep O'Reilly. But thats because i think he is a perfect left back in Pep's system. Might even be better than Gvardiol eventually. Wont surprise ne if he eventually forced Josko back to CB like Josko did to Ake.

But i still like Mcatee as a role player. O didn't watch him in the youth ranks, but it seem those who did sre a bit disappointed at his production as a senior player.

As someone just judging him on senior play, i see a tidy player who pops up at opportuned moments and tends to keep the ball pretty safe.

I have no problems with him.

Highly creative? Foden highly creative ? McAtee seems to be another scorer. Maybe he is shy and still doesn’t know or has a place but he is similar to Foden In that aspect. He is gone in summer.

I agree, I'd keep Nico but wouldn't play him LB, I think he's a number 8. I like McAtee but not in the current system we play.

Yea, I think he's very similar to Foden, just not as effective and not as good as finisher, I think both Foden and McAtee best position is false 9 but we don't play that system, neither of them are creative midfielders.

Agree with this. He lacks self belief when he plays. Pep has said he need to believe he belongs here. Not sure how that might change.

For me the issue is he can't impose himself against weak opposition.

Maybe he is played out of position, the only thing McAtee is praised for is scoring goals, so maybe we should make him a striker? Even so, O Reilly would probably be a better backup striker.

With Bobb coming back, Echeverri likely being a new young guy to integrate, and perhaps a KdB replacement coming in (even if not), he likely won't get more game time next season.

I don't see them competing with each other. We've started the process of revamping of the squad by; Josko and Doku are still relatively new, and now we have 4 new signings with Echeverri also just arrived and possibly more on the way during the summer. My feeling is that Pep will seek to keep his system with a few some slight modifications to freshen it up. I think the academy players will be incredibly important in making this work as they're the ones that have grown up with the system. McAtee, O Reilly, Lewis and Bobb could a have a very valuable contribution to make both on matchdays and in training.

Just no room for him on the bench. I think he’ll be gone this summer anyway. Be interesting to see whether he goes to the U21 Euros or the Club World Cup. It would be incredibly harsh to make him miss the Euros if he barely plays in the CWC
 
yes unless there is a new injury he wont be making the bench vs Brighton either. him or OReilly misses out.
