To be fair, in the few opportunities he does get, he simply doesn't seem to affect the play. That is good enough reason for him not to play

Scored more goals than Doku, Savinho, De Bruyne, Bernardo and Grealish this season. Won the free kick that led to the equaliser against Plymouth (and set up Foden and Grealish for good chances), won the free-kick that led to the goal against Madrid. For his limited minutes (and often playing out of position) he’s done alright

A handful of moments. Most of them against poor opposition. He's not good enough

Goal and assist for the U21s 1st half against a very good U21 France side.

Cherki with 2 assists.
Think they both ended the game with 1 goal and 2 assists each.

Macca showed some nice touches and good link up play with the likes of Elliot and Delap. He'll be a solid creative midfielder for someone.

I think he’s got enough talent and seems like a lovely lad but he hasn’t got that self belief or mentality to make it at City.

If I was as good as he was, I’d be making sure I made an impact on each and every game, showing everybody who I am.

He did that regularly at Sheffield United and does it regularly for England U21s.

It's a simple matter of lack of opportunities at City.

Shame McAtee can't replicate his skillset on a consistent basis when he gets his few chances on the pitch.

As this article & video illustrates during the int break, he's an immense talent with a huge amount of technical ability & we would have hoped he reached Cole Palmer's breakout stature in the Premier League considering he was earmarked at even a higher level than Cole during the EDS ranks.

He was one of their best players... I know that doesn't mean a lot, but he was!

I think you have to accept one thing as a constant.

To get into a Pep team as a kid, YOU NEED TO DISPLACE A STARTER!

Phil displaced Sterling
Rico displaced Cancelo

Opportunities are earned, not given away by Pep.

You might say it sucks, it's really bad, but the rules are the rules and they've been constant.

What I'm more bothered by is the fact that Bernardo & Foden have been absolutely horrible on the right wing, and still McAtee can't get a game there.

Tbf I still think he’s got something about him and I’d be happy keeping him. Only concern is blocking Echeverri’s pathway. But he seems to have the knack of popping up with a goal or assist. Good at attacking the channels and attacking the box, one of our best in the small-spaces.

To be fair that only happened for palmer when he started playing every week. We can’t expect the same from Mcatee when he plays every 8 weeks or gets a few minutes at the end of a match.
