Just watched a video of his highlights from yesterday again. So frustrating to watch how the rest of the team stand still whenever he has the ball.

He’s electric and creates space for others both by dragging players towards him but also by skinning his marker(s) more often than not. Yet no fucker makes a run for him to give a pass to.

His passing is fine. His crossing looks shit and aimless because everybody is static while Haaland always(!) lurches at the back post. Surely it’s obvious most of Doku’s crosses will be near post/middle of the area because of the speed he’s going when he’s running - look at the Spurs away goal.

The lack of movement around him is killing the team and making his end product look poor.
Look at the opportunity he had to find Haaland with a through ball near the end of the game yesterday. He didn't even see him. He's blinkered and the rest of the players know that.

166 minutes in the league.
With 4 consecutive starts. Being the highest.

Name me any player in world football who would be able to find his best form when they are constantly in and out of a team. Palmer was labelled a championship level by some on here. Because people judge far too early. The only way you know if players are good enough is by consistently playing them for long periods.

Can you really judge and point fingers at a player who is always in and out of a team.

And that’s on Pep. Since he arrived how many times has a player been in good form only to be benched the following week.

I miss consistency. I dread the team line ups because you never know what brain fart pep will have.

Marmoush will probably be on the bench for the next three matches.

That's because he's always picking up injuries. Hardly Pep's fault.

No it’s not just that. I understand the injury situation.

However it’s not just that is it. At the start of the season pep played Doku and Savhnio in the first three games I believe it was. We won them all. And then everything changed out of nowhere.

Pep can literally drop the most in form player at any given time. For no other reason then a brain fart the night before.

Savhnio was our most in form attacker at the time we played Madrid. And then Pep played him centrally out of nowhere. Savhnio hasn’t really got going again since that moment.

I don't think we should blame other players for his paucity of end products. However brilliantly one player can dribble fast, a match cannot be won by his single show pony act. I'm sure the team practise various attacking options during training, but the player has to create situations/chances in such a way that it is he who draws others in for the most effective way of attacking.

He played a very good game yesterday and has been criticised for lack of a final pass or shot. That was missing but you can ask why. Is that because Doku is a brilliant trickster but lacking in vision, passing or does the fault lie in the surrounding players / system?

Both I would say. We were essentially attacking with 4 players yesterday. It was not easy for Doku to pick out a man. Savinho completely failed too. Marmoush failed in that respect. When 3 of the 4 forwards fail to link with their forwards, I suggest it's because Pep's tactical plan was weak. I know why he played that system. Foden and Bernardo were awful at Forest so he dropped them and gave the field to our best 4 forwards but they were isolated. It's no surprise that our goals yesterday came from a pen. and a individual strike. There were few team moves. It was get the ball out wide to Doku or Savinho and see what magic they could do

I sympathise with him to a degree but his out of possession workrate needs to improve.

Haaland looked very subdued in his movement yesterday like he was carrying a knock. Very hard for Doku to pick out thr right pass when noone is making the right runs into the box.

I wonder how much better off he’d be in a team that doesn’t have to play against packed defences. That’s more of a dig towards our slow build up than it is our opponents. At one point yesterday when he was on the ball, he had five Brighton close to the area he was in and no City players were in that same area.

Go back to the Spurs game in the first half. He had the assist for the only goal and could and should have probably had 2 more assists but for wasteful finishing - we should have gone in at HT 3-0 or 4-0 up. He has got an end product but there's not enough effort to get on the end of things or move into space for him.

The Spurs match was open field. When a team puts men behind the ball its different.

To maximize both Doku and Haaland a counterattacking system is needed.

I honestly find it crazy and ironic that Jose Mourinho would be the perfect man for the manager job right now. But its the truth lol

I know I will get a lot of stick around here for this take, but all of Pep's shortcomings that are now hurting City (wrong tactics for the players, leaky defense, lack of heart) would be addressed with Mourinho at the helm

He really needs a left foot. He can’t put a good cross with his left in. Thats where he lacks compared to Savinho. Nonetheless the only one trying to. No assists because no one attacks our near post
You are the 1st poster to mention this .
Doku is predominantly right footed. It is one of the most difficult skills as a wide player ,to get to the bye line and produce a technically good( accurate ) cross with your weaker foot. And yet Pep insists on playing him on the left. Most posters can not grasp this simple concept. It is akin to David Silva taking a corner or attacking free kick with his right foot.....never ever going to happen because he didn't have one.Silva never trusted his weaker foot.If gifted players like Silva can't hut a dead ball with their weaker foot, imagine how poor they would be attempting to cross with their weaker foot running at full pelt ?

Perhaps Haaland and co know an accurate cross is not going to happen when doku goes scampering away down the left wing, for all players know when a player is on their weaker side, maybe they just give up on making runs for the cross.....cos they know Doku cannot produce quality balls from the left bye line......
Just a thought...

.

The only one making runs into the box is Marmoush. Pathetic people whinging about Doku. Had we had Isak, Solanke or any striker actually making movements then we would not be having this discussion.

Our midfield is one of the most work shy, least aggressive and with no outside threat. That is why there are no options for Doku. Haalands runs this season are also far too predictable. The only reason it is not worsemis because the PL is terrible this year and thye do possess great technical ability (bar Haaland).

The only players that create anything in shocking tactics that Pep has set up are Gvardiol and Doku. The only one willing to latch on to them or be an outside threat is Marmoush. Khush has been great since he has come in but his support has been terrible.

The other players should buckle up or leave.

Just crap isnt he. He cost the same as the entire Brighton squad btw. Quality dribbler but means fuck all when he’s that shit at the final third.

A world class winger is another priority in the summer…
Are you taking the piss? Brighton spent €279m since last summer. When did we pay 400m for Doku? No wonder people have high expectations
