Hugo Larsson

Just seen him play the first half for Frankfurt and he's been hard to notice. Honestly looks like an average player. He also has a hard time getting any minutes for Sweden in a mediocre midfield so i hope we don't go for him.

He is one of most talented young players in the bundesliga. Laporte did not play for France numerous talented City players did not get picked for England. His game time for Sweden is down to Tomasson not being a very good manager.

Agreed.

He is nothing special, kingn6 above has been glazing him alot lol.

Id rather Wharton personally.

Wharton is also a top prospect he will probably cost twice as much. He has less exoerience and is older. If we need to fill home grown spots then Wharton is ideal. I just think Larsson’s ceiling is higher. Anyways let us trust City to get the next 1-2 midfielders right then we can continue our dominance.

Looks a proper player, him. Highlights are riddled with literally every part of a midfielder’s game - attacking, defending, aggression, passing.

Composed in front of goal and has a handy knack of being in the right place at the right time (Gundo-esque?) which is always a lovely bonus.

Plus. A ginger bloke coming from Bundesliga? What can go wrong!

Wharton is 21 and Larsson is 20, nobody cares about such an age difference.

You also quoted a source saying Larsson will cost 60m euros, Wharton will definitely not be double that, most likely 80-90m euros.

What I will agree with you is on Perrone, I like him at Como, but he seems determined ti be there instead.

Like most here, I have never seen the fella play.
In fact, probably like most here, I watch Manchester City, Manchester City EDS, Manchester City academy, and the odd PL game. My knowledge of European players is sketchy as hell, and based more on what I read here than anything else!

The prize quoted for Larsson is with add ons. We will need to pay around €50M basic fee. Wharton might not be double but significantly more. I just think Larsson is more proven and younger. Mid table players in the PL are usually overvalued.

I just have very good gut feeling about him and probably tinto veranos my opinion of him. The last time I had feeling about a player was Isak even when he was struggling in Dortmund. The same is said by the swedish agents who believe he has higher ceiling than Dejan and Gyökeres for example.

Next players you should keep your eyes on from Sweden are both strikers and 16 years old. Nilsson Lööf who we are keen on and Love Arrhov. The latter will be snapped up by Frankfurt in the coming weeks.

@kingn6 you have a very unhealthy obsession with this player ha. I’ve never seen anyone post so much in one topic ;-)

I watched him for last night for Frankfurt v Stuggart, in what was quite a low standard game of football. (Enjoyable though). Constant turn overs and give always from both teams. Poor passes and little composure was going on left right and centre from most and he didn’t stand out much at all.

Maybe just a bad game from him.

Haha yes I admit I do get a bit obsessed about him. Like I said esrlier I have watched him a lot and spoken to football people in Sweden. His decision making with the asses will improve as he matures. They say it is him Isak that are the best talents in the past 20 years (since Zlatan).

I just don’t want us to sign and overpriced PL talent. Instead we should spot the european gems and bring through our own talent. Nico, Mukasa and bunch of the u18s should be candidates for the first team in a few years. We have spent close to 200M on Kalvin, Jack and Nunes that is enough.

I really liked Paqueta and Bruno at Lyon and thought we should have gone for them. I felt we should have gone for Isak at Dortmund and Sociedad. He would have been a much better fit than Haaland. I also obsessed about Gaya at Valencia probably got that one wrong :-).

We should look at what PSG has done this season.

Don't know much about Larsson, but Wharton is miles above Phillips and I'd be happy with him.

The one thing he has that Larsson doesn't is HG status. As a result he may almost be an 'extra' player, while Larsson might mean another foreign player has to leave first.

Recruitment won't be straightforward this summer, there'll be a fair bit of juggling to do. It might mean that if we get player A in position A, then it rules out player B for position B etc. it's gonna be interesting to say the least.

Don’t see him at our starting XI ready, needs to develop more as a Future starter. More of a sign and loan back for 1-2 years

Yeah Wharton has much more ability than Kalvin in my mind. We have had other superstar talents like Jack Rodwell who was supposed to be the next thing. Turns put he was the next thing in Sunderland’s bin.
