Players who might improve us

This is the one that frustrates me the most—it genuinely gets under my skin. Out of all the situations we've discussed, this one feels the most avoidable, the most maddening. It’s not just disappointing, it’s infuriating.

Some posters in here actually had the nerve to say he wasn’t City level, that he wasn’t good enough—just another overrated Benfica product! And now, look at him. Flourishing. Dominating. Proving exactly why some of us were banging the drum early on.
Easy to be vindicated in hindsight but yeah, he was my number 1 pick for midfield. Would have learnt so much from Rodri, and played either next to him, on his own or Rodri pushed further up. Only £60mil too. Neves & their fullbacks would totally transform our team.

There’s always options though. Andrey Santos putting up very similar numbers in a worse Strasbourg team and Chelsea looking to sell. 9 goals 3 assists is pretty mad from a defensive midfielder.

Baena wont happen because he has a repeated history of being a dickhead in La Liga, and the club do due diligence on the character of our signings before hand.

Said the same about him and about Kerkez and Reijnders when at AZ. 'Not good enough', 'farmers' league', 'we only need them when ready' etc.
Odd thing is that our winter signings suggest that we might now be chasing players with promise rather than the finished articles.

Same as Cherki really, dont see either tbh.
I agree, may be why we dont as well.

From what I understand though, most of Cherkis attitude issues were years ago when he waa 16-18, as a kid, he has seemingly not had any issues recently.

Baena's is more on a higher level, he is just a dick of a player on the pitch.

think its a been a work rate/pressing issue with the last two managers, and his entourage with the DOF/Owners.

Good breakdown here about halfway down. https://breakingthelines.com/player-analysis/rayan-cherki-the-lyon-wonderkid-destined-for-stardom/

and current counter article as well for balance. https://breakingthelines.com/player...a-rising-star-nearing-a-defining-summer-move/

Bit of a shithouse has levels though, id read/see a couple of the things he did.. **** of the highest order
I’ll have to look it up.

Villa were interested in January seem to remember so imagine he’s get a decent move this summer somewhere

Would also think having a year at Girona someone would have said something if a ****.

Didn’t realise this as such but being a bastard in the pitch is certainly a quality we lack sometimes.

Just don’t be one of the pitch
He reportedly said something to Fede valverde about his wife having a miscarriage or something. Fede punched him after the game at the team bus. Not sure all the details, but you can look it up if you want

I’m glad he punched him then!

Need to buy 1 or maybe even 2 physical midfielders tbh. The ones that can run all night, duels, box to box type. Baleba? (Though I don’t know if he’s injury prone)
