Pep Guardiola - 2024/25

Again with the name calling because you cannot defend your nonsense with any kind of context.

I've given you the context. This season doesn't exist in a vacuum it exists as part of a wider arc of the squad. The squad (and the manager) won the title last season with 91 points. That was their 4th title on the bounce. Ergo, less than a year ago the manager was in charge of doing something that had previously never been done.

You have completely made up we will finish 3rd or 4th? Your argument is based on guesswork. Your argument is based on zero criticism based off past performance.

I haven't made it up. It is based on our remaining fixtures in comparison to the other clubs fighting for those positions. It's not even a particularly ambitious prediction. Seems fairly sensible.

If in your opinion it doesn't matter what he does, where we finish, whatever the downfall because of that then fill your boots. You can give your undying loyalty but my guess would be if we encounter another season like this one, we will have a new man in charge.

I didn't say nothing matters. I said that Guardiola has set the standards you are talking about. Only an idiot thinks that going from winning the title to finishing in the top 4 is a "downfall". In terms of undying loyalty, Guardiola has earned it more than any man that has managed our club. If you think that Khaldoon and co would sack Pep if we finish 4th again next season it shows just how little you know or understand about the people you're talking about.

I am not comparing it to standards he set, as a club we have standards and we will want to continually build and progress. Drop offs can happen, my whole point was how the best manager in the world could surely get more from this group, with 150m or so spent on it in January to boot too.

Are you suggesting that injuries and age have played no part in our problems this season? Because again, that's just stupid.

With the team we have, extra investment made in January and the manager we have, performance wise I believe we can offer more. Shoot me

I don't need to shoot you. I'm just going to stick you on my ignore list as you've added almost nothing of value to this conversation. I've had plenty of conversations with people who have been critical of decisions Pep has made this season and found myself agreeing with them. I've criticised Pep this season for decisions he's made. However in none of those instances did I need to be a bellend and compare him to Jose or Wenger, or did I need to suggest he was finished, or did I need to reference the amount of money the club spent in January.

Lots of if and buts and what might have happened with a different manager, all in your imagination. If you can't give Pep the benefit of the doubt after all he's achieved in the game that's your problem nobody elses.Complete lack of perspective and awareness.

Mostly fine with his starting lineup except Silva on the RW, I know he was involved in the first goal but that was about the only forward pass he played all game, he just makes us too slow and predictable.

I suppose his instructions today were keep it safe until the final 15 minutes and than go for it and it worked, but it was pretty much the same against the rags and Forest away and we only got a point from those games, so he's clearly becoming more conservative away from home.

I'm still not sure about Gundo playing 90 minutes every game, I think he should be rested against Villa before the cup semi final, start with Nico and Kova in midfield.

Silva and Gundogan should have been hooked much sooner than Kev, albeit he was poor.

Substitutes changed it for us.

They are legends for us, but I can't wait for next season when I don't have to worry about seeing the current Gundogan, De Bruyne or Bernardo in midfield.

I thought Gundo was good especially late on, far better than Kev who was very poor and Silva, I think he should be rested against Villa and back against Forest, I don't think he can play 90 minutes every game at this point.

I think consistently putting that trio on the pitch together, has been one of our biggest issues this season. I think we can play one of them, two if we have no other available options. Never all of them together.

There are a good 3 to 4 of our senior players who cannot play 90 minutes.
So why does Pep, yet again, wait so late (78 minutes,) to make his first substitute ?
Think that you cannot have more than 2 of KDB, Gundo, Bernie & Kova playing on the same pitch ?
Their legs have gone for the current intense, rapid and multi-subs football in the Premier League.
Please Pep, use your 5 subs and replace players when they are knackered...

35pts from the last 24 games plus knocked out of europe. Lies, damn lies and statistics.
How many injuries did we have in those 9 games? Anyway, I'm just saying he's already sorted most of the problems and we're well on the up again.

Without Akanji, Ake, Stones, Rodri and Haaland. With Dad's Army as our midfield.

He's the best for a reason, which is something the morons who slate him in this thread seem to forget.

Yes if he’d used his subs better we might have won the game.

Respectfully, I was just pointing out that you can pick a certain point in a season and make a narrative. Injuries have sucked. We'll never know what we would have done, all we know is what we have done. And even more than the points, the style of football going back to before the drunk fa cup final is an issue. He's had a poor season, and I think thats an honest assessment. Some want him gone, most don't. Not sure it makes them wankers.

Also, he chooses to pick Dad's army.

He has to pick them, unfortunately we have 5 fit central midfielders and 4 are over 30.

30 points in 15 suggests he's integrating the new blood well.

I agree about the style but that is a function of having too many old midfielders. If we played a high tempo game, most opposition would cut through us.

Fair points although I disagree that he had to pick them. O'Reilly, Mcatee, Nico and an occasional Grealish outing plus any number of academy players would have been able to perform at the same level as imposter gundogan, Bernie and Kev in midfield. Hell, you and me could have.

Unfortunately most football fans know fuck all about professional football. And yet think they know more than experienced qualified professionals luckily we have a coach who knows a little bit.
You a fan of Ten Hag? Solskjaer? Rooney? All qualified professionals.

It nearly every profession there are times when even the people who are correctly called genius can have an off period
