Seat Counters - 2024/25

Thanks for the interesting comment.

This has been covered elsewhere but we know for a fact that City's non-seasoncard support has surged and there is an old but quality dataset that suggests that the majority of City's seasoncard holders live outside Greater ManChester. We also know from the club that 50% of seasoncard holders do not on average go to the midweek CL games.

I believe that City's support has surged locally, nationally and internationally since the takeover and that we see these fans at games. Ironically, I think on a CL night, the crowd is dominated by locals from what is now a very cosmopolitan Manchester.

We are living in a period when football is extremely popular and in one where prices have never been higher so football crowds are changing. It is confusing but at the same time interesting. When I first started supporting City in the 1970s, football was almost all white now it has totally changed and City fans represent the community in which the club is based. This is social progress. That doesn't mean that there aren't problems between the club and fanbase. We know there are.

You commented that City that City are encouraging overseas fan at the expense of local fans. I disagree with that and think that we have seen a big increase in both occasional visiting City fans from abroad and local fans.
The Club and legacy fans / fan reps have acquiesced in making more tickets available for tourists. Maybe unintentionally. Why else have we got non attendance requiring season cards. Why else have we got guaranteed 12 game refunds on the Ticket Exchange?

I think it’s about making money (the Club) and reclaiming money (the fans).

I’m talking tourists and not Mancunian Blues (or genuine fans) of any ethnicity.

The impact has been to deprive families from getting season cards together during the most successful spell in our history

Why the fuck are a bunch of soft arses posting on a website how embarrassing it is that we can't sell our full allocation what the fuck is wrong with your life if you are embarrassed by what's let's face it other fans think?

Grow up, if you want to go and be the biggest fan ever to follow City then dip your bread but stop carrying on like hysterical fannies.
I suppose it's just a counter to the cba's who keep posting their excuses?

Pretty much exactly what I was going to post. Maybe without Fannies LOL.
Am guessing they have forgotten our times at maine road.
Our consistent fan Base is 30,000 always as been. My grandson, son and myself will be attending every game City play at Wembley ( if health allows us )
If we sell 20,000 I won't be embarrassed.
If we lose a derby at Wembley I will be frustrated but not embarrassed.
Just being at Wembley is most clubs dream. Enjoy the occasion don't give a F-ck what keyboard warriors type.

Yup, the I support City unless people take the piss out of me are not real fans. I'd go one further and say football attendances need to go down because authorities and clubs need to start considering what fans want and think.

I thought there were way more than 50 percent of season ticket holders in the CL Cup scheme?

Well people have their reasons and I'm not going to criticise anyone for not going, our support overseas and with kids here has increased massively but our support and particularly those who attend is actually less than it was pre-c0vid, the capacity was reduced by 1000 or so and there were a lot less non sell outs back then. Out support generally is STILL GM based, there are blues scattered about the country granted but I'd argue our reach is less than comparable clubs such as Everton, Newcastle, Villa etc, Everton have swathes of fans in North Wales and probably have more support in places like St Helen's, Warrington etc than us which are more or less half way between the two cities, Newcastle have fans up to the Scottish Borders , down into Durham and out west past Hexham, Villa have plenty of fans outside Birmingham who go on places like Staffordshire, Worcestershire and even on the edge of Gloucestershire. The 10 year olds in the Aquero era would be 23 now but the club decided that some overseas fan who might come once a season are more important than local support, a lot of this is down to the club solely. Our support in the UK has not expanded to the levels you would expect with the huge success, my belief and it might be crap is that 115 and the bile from the media hasn't helped matters. That stand should have been built 5 or 6 years ago when we were at our peak, they should have been working their nuts off to bring back lapsed fans and getting every kid under 12 to actively support their club, that horse has now bolted and if we don't get back to those levels of success having a 61000 plus capacity might prove to be complete folly.
My friend lives in Warrington. Most school age kids are City and Liverpool apparently. It’s changing

The number of ST holders at champions league games has dwindled. More and more coming off the cup schemes and to be honest after the Madrid farce I’ll probably come off it too. Club need to incentivise ST holders to attend these games - especially the group ones IMO although I doubt they will.

There are 20,700 Season Ticket Members on the UEFA Cup Scheme and on average season ticket holders were half the CL match-day attendance in 2024-25. We have 37,000 season ticket holders. There have been up to 15,000 match-day members on CL nights which is I believe is higher than you would expect for a PL fixture.

I'd have thought being in the competition was incentive enough. I don't understand what you mean?

What would incentivise it is if we went back to queuing up at the ticket office for tickets, it's too easy for those fortunate enough to have the money just to join every scheme to guarantee themselves a ticket without any effort.

I know it isn't going to happen but just throwing it out there.

You still have to pay even if you queue up

At best there were about 50% of season ticket holders in the CL cup scheme. And that's more than are in the domestic cup schemes iirc.

I'd say the majority of City ST holders are just happy to do their 19 home games and that's it. They might make a once-a-season effort for a final but that's as far as it goes. I went with my OSC last season to both the semi-final & final and we took just one coach to the semi and two to the final, so there's clearly less interest in the former, which isn't really surprising.

It's the first FA Cup semi-final for Forest since 1991 so it's no surprise demand from their fans is high. We've only missed one since 2015/16. We've had League Cup finals, and constant CL appearances, including two finals. Football is getting more expensive generally and more so being a City fan, with the number of games we play. It's a luxury item these days. I've got a £40 hotel and £35 ticket but the trip will still probably cost me double that when food, drink & petrol are added in.

Relationships between clubs and fans are also breaking down a fewer are prepared to make the effort to support their club when they don't feel their club is making that much effort to support them.

I'd happily see a half-empty Wembley if it makes the people who run the game, and club executives, start to think again about the way they treat their "customers".

You do but it stops going on a website to see lots of greyed out seats and you get as much chance of going to the final as you do to the semis, if we get to the final the 3rd party ticketing sites will be hammered and a good many who went to the semi will not be eligible for the final.

Queuing up is the great leveller IMHO.

I live in Warrington and involved in youth football, we are unfortunately nowhere near the level of Liverpool and United support, maybe one or two more kids support us but not close to there support and the gap isn't changing significantly.

Lovely.

A 6 hour round trip to home matches, leave at 10 for Wembley, get home after midnight and you want to want me to travel another 6 hours just to buy a ticket.

How did you dream that up.
