Doku is a perfect example of why it annoys me when people criticise Pep for ‘restricting’ forwards. No tactical set up can stop someone who is simply that fast. His end product has always been his down point but that tonight that fucking brilliant. A genuine match winning moment. Keep him in the team until end of the season

Thought he was generally dreadful after coming on. But more than made up for it with that cross.
Can i ask you and the couple of people who liked this comment why he was dreadful? He came on in a game that had a team playing for a draw that we couldn’t afford to lose. Got the ball a couple of times and kept it, lost it about once and most the time had 2 or 3 against him! Bizarre take for me.

I agree. O'Reilly seemed to move into the centre so Doku had little support but really made a difference. I think his best role for the rest of the season might be as an impact sub but if that results in us winning games hopefully he will be happy with that. If he can replicate that cross regularly he will be a starter though.

Can't teach the pace, but a round of applause for the cross as well. Off the outside of his boot, from his weaker foot, perfectly weighted. They don't get much better than that.
Right foot so not weaker but electric speed, burns his defender and killer cross. Can understand Pep's celebration -- we've had much bigger nights and bigger wins, but in this sometimes nightmare season, it meant a lot

He was obviously brought on to have an attacking impact. If it was a keep-the-ball sub, it would have been Grealish. Prior to the goal, he didn’t do anything. Can’t recall him committing a defender or going past them. Generally, he looked a bit lost in that inside left role. No coincidence that the goal came once things had been tweaked slightly and he could start wider, with O’Reilly coming inside more.
Wasn’t even that much of a criticism. I like Doku, and it isn’t easy coming on in a tight game. And as I said, his contribution to the goal far outweighs anything else in his performance.

My word, the precision of that cross was insane. The pace, the inch perfect line - it was like a picture of perfect harmony and beauty.

Could watch it as an endless loop...
Hope this a watershed moment for him. Sterling went from a decently effective winger to someone hitting 30 goals & assists pretty consistently. Doku’s frustrating at times because he’s got all the tools, just needs to piece it together and work on that final delivery.

I have been watching on YouTube. It was so precise it reminded me of a peak Kev slide rule pass!

He first needs to stay fit. That is his biggest issue. He has all the ability in the world

The reason he could play it was because the defence hadn't set but was backtracking. Quite a different scenario than where they have parked the bus and facing away from goal.
If other teams played an open game, a lot of our players would suddenly seem to play much better.

Then we have to find ways to counter that, can't complain that teams know how to stop us and with ease now.

Not Dokus biggest fan but that was class from him, direct, with pace and followed it all up with a KDB level assist. We need to see more of that from him but he has grown this season, even if he still has a lot of room for improvement.
