Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

He touched the ball, he didn’t get possession of the ball though, it hardly moved and was still in the attackers line. The contact was pretty obvious to me, in real time I was surprised he didn’t give it with Dias running across the line.
As I said, and you ignored, it was not a clear and obvious error.

You think it was a penalty, I do not. As the prick Pawson also thought in real time with a clear view. Scandalous for VAR to get involved. In my opinion.

Probably more for the lino, but how many fucking throw ins did villa take from on the pitch. Absolute disgrace that a top level official either cannot see or doesn't care that a players foot is almost fully over the touchline when taking a throw
Almost fully over the line implies that some part of his foot is on it. Perfectly legal throw. Foot has to be totally over the line to be a foul. Not almost.

One of the worst I've seen for a few of our games lately. Don't get me wrong, the bar is pretty low where we are concerned for any sort of where even 20% fair us, 80% opponents is a good ref for us. But this, and especially the var intervention issuing orders to award the pk and not booking that Martinez for his blatant time wasting just shows what we are constantly up against and how we are targeted.

Stinks of corruption imo.

Absolutely terrible referee.

Seemed to give the decision to whoever made the loudest appeal. Was never in control of the game and managed to get in the way of the play every couple of minutes.

Incredible actually that they make a living out of it and it’s all they do all week.

Grade A cheat, did everything he could to stop us
Perfectly put, this **** deserves a thread all of his own

I’d have remortgaged my house 10 times and put it all on him to award the pen when he was asked to have a look, there was never a shadow of a doubt he’d give it. Fair play to him for not wearing a big grin as he pointed to the spot cos he was smiling like fuck inside.

Terrible for both teams . One of the poorest refs PGMOL have if not THE worst

Let throws be taken from up to 15yds from where they should have been all game then late on we got one in the corner and he made us take it in the exact spot
He’s weak and clueless easily manipulated he saw the pen as no foul waved for the villa player to get up, should have had the balls to stick with his correct original decision

I do think it was a penalty, but that was a very very poor referee performance over all from the bloke.

Martinez was wasting time from the first goal kick, get him booked early! If a player kicked the ball away twice, he’d be booked, so why aren’t goalkeepers for taking 45 seconds over every goal kick, on the second occasion he does it? It’d speed the game up no end getting them booked early.

He fell for every single Villa dive tonight. Wanker.

If he gives the pen, then he gives it. If he doesn't then he doesn't. I would have screamed for a decision in our favour if it was reversed. But accepted it if not given. I would have accepted an on field decision for a pen to them even though I would think it a bit harsh. But there is no reason, albeit through my blue tinted specs, for VAR to be involved. It is in no way clear and obviously a mistake. It was one of those that can go either way. And we supposedly have a high bar to challenge on field decisions. But clearly the bar isn't raised as high sometimes as it is at others. I just thought it was another example of poor use of VAR. If we want to re referee incidents, then fine. Let everyone know that's how we are doing it. But if that's not the intended use then the current crop are woefully inadequate.

Saw 2 villa throws into our box in the first half, both times his foot was fully over the line. I was 100 yards away so fuck knows why that wanker with the flag didn’t see it. Nearly scored off one of them as well.
As I’ve said before, it’s only us that get pulled up for foul throw ins (how many this season ??) You see them all the time by other teams , but never given

With Pawson clearly seeing it in real time and NOT giving it, he was of the opinion it wasn't a foul. His view wasn't obscured and he didn't 'make a mistake'. He decided it wasn't a penalty.

The Video Assistant Ref (or maybe Garry Neville) though different, and got Pawson to go and look at the monitor, no doubt accompanied by a strongly worded narrative in his ear. This is clearly and obviously re-refereeing the game, which is something we were told categorically they would never do.

It stinks!!!

Absolute bollocks of a performance from that twat and the var knobs. How the fuck can they overturn the correct on field decision? Dias played the ball. Absolute wankers.

I didn’t ignore it, thought I covered it in what I said. It was a penalty even in real time to me and not surprised VAR overturned, Pawson from his angle wouldn’t have seen the contact as much.

It’s one of those that if it was us as the attacking side, everyone would be screaming the other way if it wasn’t given.

Just seen the replay and totally agree - he clips him 100% a pen
