Nottingham Forest (N) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Nice to City attacking through the middle instead of passing side to side. Seemed a coached tactic as they were constantly probing through that area.

Anyone know what was up with Pep? He didn't really seem like a chap that had just one a FA cup semi final. I thought he was very out of sorts.

Maybe he just thinks it's a semi ? OK it's played at Wembley but it is still only a semi.

OTT celebrations should always be for winning the final.

Since the manager relinquished lots of responsibility, such as player transfers, contract negotiations etc
Large clubs now have directors of football for that side which leaves the "manager" more time to coach, hence the job title change to "coach"
Is he not still managing the team then? When he picks the team on a Saturday he’s not coaching, he’s managing.

The first half was, the second half wasn’t and I think that’s why Pep didn’t look overjoyed at the end of the match being the perfectionist that he is.

The errors need cutting out. Like you say they have been in evidence all season. We have had bits of luck in the last few games (post saving us) which have helped but the errors are still there. It’s like they lose concentration at key times. Hopefully 1/2 more players are back in the next few weeks and we get better still. We have improved a lot but we need to see it out now, win the cup and get top 5.
Yeah, second half a lot more unforced errors crept in and we didn't really react quick enough to the changes that Forest made. But all their chances were really flashpoints, we controlled the game mostly and i was REALLY impressed with us being able to break the lines and play out - something we haven't seen since the early days of this season.

You say potato I say potato
Let's call the whole thing off
It was always “Manager” though. Why the change, that was my question? Are we adopting a more Americanised term? As the NFL/NBA have “coaches”? There’s a clear distinction between Pep’s role and Lillo.

pregame, few arguements broke out up Wembley Way with Forest fans getting angry calling us cheats, until they were told only one club out of the two playing having been found guilty of anything.

one lad in glasses was close to tears, over it all. Police split up older blokes confronting each other, I had to pull a mate back.

Was on the lower tier, had a big block of empty seats that were full 2nd half. Team played well, amazing start to the game, should have been 2 or 3 up.

2nd half pretty much the same, rode our luck a little bit with the posts being hit, that MGW strike would of been a beauty if it went in, felt for Jack with the tackle on MGW but high foot means one thing.

Geniunely looked liked we would score 4 or 5 goals but seemed to be more content with the extra passes across the box.

Fair play to those who went today, made a racket, really enjoyed it again compared to where we sit in CB3 and its quiet as a mouse.

I will say this, City MUST allow everyone who went to that game yesterday first refusal on final tickets, doesn't matter the reason people couldn't go, but City need to let the fans who went yesterday first option on tickets.

Felt for the young lad who thought he was going home with the matchball, only mistake was wanting more pics with it near the exits, where police and a club steward from City where waiting and demanding he hands over the ball, stewards from wembley were sympathetic, the dad didn't appreciate it, could see him disagreeing what went on.

Forest fans were loud pregame, mainly quiet throughout the game apart from a section in the 2nd half. Least they stuck about near the end. Embrassing they seemed to have picked up cheating bastards chants from their mates in Stretford.

Geniunely cringe at how many adult Newcastle fans wear their club tops, well Forest trumped that yesterday!

Few of them tried bullying small groups of city fans, but didn't get violent.

At work today and feel like i've been hit by a bus, got home at 1.30 am after going the long way home due to the M1/M6!!

Yeah, that was very visible. Slight smile on his face, but nothing more. I actually suspect he wasn't exactly pleased with the performance, just the result — especially that way they were cutting through us and wearing out the woodwork in the second half. Watch that Elanga chance at the beginning of the second half, he goes blithely sailing past two City defenders (one of whom is I think Dias) without either of them being the slightest bit aware of him. It wasn't the only time the defence went completely to sleep, either.
He'll have a public voice for that performance, and I suspect a private one for the dressing room and the training pitch this week.

Edit: I've slandered Rúben. Had another look. Nico O'Reilly saw him all right, but from approximately the same starting position Elanga simply left him behind. And Nico is not slow. Gvardiol doesn't seem to be aware of him and he snuck past him. Should have been a goal.

Same. I’d have been annoyed if it was given against us.

Doesn't matter in the end because we scored almost immediately after it. But for me it was a clear pen. His hand was clearly away from his body as he was turning, and I think he knew exactly what he was doing. We'll agree to disagree.

Couldn’t ask for a better semi final than that. Early goal, totally dominant first half, couple of scares after the break but once the 2nd went in we were pretty much home and dry.

Sensational Bernie absolutely ran the show. Kova and Rico were top notch and Marmoush was a real threat.

Great on the pitch, great off the pitch.

He looked pretty pleased to me. Joined the players on their lap of thanks, blowing kisses to the ground, I think he even broke into a little dance when we were singing his song.

He was well happy

The goal coming straight after the pen shout made it more sweet for me. I think everyone in the same block felt the same. The goal almost a "F**k you" to the officials

Why? Even though he's meant to be shielding his arms/ hands by putting them behind his back, he didn't do or hide them right, as the ball quite clearly hit his hand, so it's a penalty all day long.

Justice was served from the resulting corner, so in a way it doesn't matter, but that was handball everyday of the week.

He got stressed when we put 6 past Watford a few years ago - just his nature mate and would he be half the boss he is without that side to his personality ?
