Russian invasion of Ukraine

Unless Putin is pulling Trumps strings and agreed with the deal

I can’t see it. Any deal or formal agreement between US and Ukraine is not good news for Russia. Anything that gives the US a stake in the survival of Ukraine is potentially good news.

The details will be key. Are there security guarantees? Will aid increase?

If trump wanted to really show support for Ukraine's Sovereignty, he could approve NATO membership as a condition of the rare minerals agreement.

It’s a business deal not a peace deal. The US will just milk the URK finances/resources until they can’t, then move on.

I heard it suggested yesterday that the US involvement is presumably on the relatively small areas with materials of interest, and that it may protect those areas only.

UKRAINE AND US SIGN MINERALS DEAL
and it’s almost universally accepted as a win for Ukraine.
The deal erased everything the Ukrainians didn’t like and created an entirely reasonable agreement in place of the very US-biased and aggressive demands. Yet it could just be entirely meaningless because only private American businesses will be involved and that seems unlikely for several years.
No mention of Zaporhizia, no repaying of aid as debt.
The Ukrainians have 47 a deal but only the deal they were prepared to give him.
In effect Ukraine and their US lawyers Have completely outmanoeuvred 47!

The deal has been scaled back that much more suits the Ukraine.
However, i don't trust Trump Or Putin on this.
I fear that Trump can walk away now. Putin takes more and more land. Trump agrees a deal with Putin on the minerals already agreed. Legitimised as a deal that the US already had. Putin announces he will "Honour" the deal already in place as a show of goodwill to Trump. Ie, just business and nothing to do with the war.

They can’t milk anything during a war. For anything to be milked two things have to happen. The conflict to be over and Ukraine to exist. Yes, it is a business deal, but business cannot operate on a battlefield. No one is mining anything unless security and safety can be guaranteed for those doing the mining.

Plenty was plundered during WW2 in the area. Even whole factories, train lines and natural resources ( the famous Ukraine soil). Obviously manpower will be an issue, you can’t fight and mine.

If Russia succeeds in Ukraine which includes territory that has the minerals in question, then Putin won’t be honouring any deal agreed to by Ukraine. Russia will not allow US companies to swan in and profit from territory seized in a war that has cost Russia dearly. Then there is China and their reaction to Russia ‘honouring’ a deal and siding with the US.

Yes, but that is plundered and if the territory is under military control and relatively secure. Ukraine is an active war zone with fluid front lines. You need stability and security to bring this deal to fruition.

Insane if true.

The Trump administration is concerned about Witkoff's approach to negotiations with Putin, - New York Post.

Witkoff violates established diplomatic practice by appearing at negotiations without the accompaniment of advisers, experts and military personnel. In addition, he allegedly relies not on his own translator, but on a Russian one, with whom he is not even familiar.

Wouldn’t be remotely surprised.

My point is if Trump is a Russian asset etc. Trump gets something by walking away. (withdrawing American military support)
Trump hasn't done a single thing against Putin so far. Not a single thing. A few harsh words on twitter don't count for anything.
However, as time goes on, i think i'm giving Trump far to much credit for being cleverer than he really is, (and is leading a double agent life). I'm beginning to think he isn't a Russian asset. He is just a stupid as he looks, and all this smoke and mirrors shit is confusing Putin as much as the rest of us!
How has America let this cretin be president twice?!
