North Stand Construction Discussion

Both crossed my mind, but both gables are miles away from their boundaries for fire. The blockwork is to the Alan Turning Way side, but again the distance and it being a gable with any form of an external wall should be more than enough to deal with the traffic, particularly with a screen on top of that as well.
I doubt the screen will be used in any noise calculations. Surely must be for noise issues from Alan Turing Way? There is the overhang on the north facing gable but I can't see why that would affect it. There are differences in the first 2 or 3 levels in space usage but above that it's all hotel rooms. The only other possible reason (although unlikely I know) is that there is a fire core nearer to the east pointing gable?

Externally it will be the most impressive stadium end in English football, due to it's sheer size and scale, with the 3000 capacity fan zone, and the 2, 9 and 8 story claws.

Internally it will struggle to beat the Spurs end, but over two tiers, and a massive 8000 capacity 2nd tier, it will be one of the best looking home ends in English football.

Inside the bowl it will definitely have a unique look. It will also add personality to the present offering because we will have a design where every stand doesn’t look the same.

Na the core is two rooms and a whole bay away in from the gable. Nothing in sound or fire that can't be dealt with without blockwork.

The only thing I can think of, is that both gables would have been intended to be done in blockwork. But because the north has the overhang, they switched to shaftwall to lighten the load on the cantilever. But almost feels too simplistic a reason.

I agree.

It will definitely have that wow factor looking from the South stand and the away ends, especially when it's full for the big games.

Hopefully it will be full for the lesser games if City get the ticket pricing and ticket availability right.

Is the new roof going to be extended forwards to create the same cover as the existing roof. If so I assume this will be some lightweight clear material. It just looks odd at the moment being so shallow.

Talking to some staff today, Wednesday SISK start preparing to move onto the pitch with it being handed over to them end of day friday, then cranes moving in as soon as they can. main roof is a little bit behind but the good weather they've had recently doesn't have anyone worried and they will be back on time within a few weeks
