North Stand Construction Discussion

Torching may give a quick fix but the reality is that red is a more fugitive colour than say blue so more likely to fade. Earth colours tend to be the most stable to UV rays but few choose brown. It all depends on what colouring pigments are used with some more permanent and others more fugitive.
Was it Thomas Dolby who sang “ blinded me with science” ;-)

Anyone sit at the back of the CB or East Stands level 3 in the corners near the existing screens?
I ask because I sit at the back of East Stand level 3 right in the corner where the NEW screen is going. Will I be able to see it at that angle or will I only be looking at the back of the screen? I’m hoping the former obviously.

Definitely the back of the screen but they'll supply a 32" tv to see what's going on, on the pitch.

Still can’t get my head around an above ground sprinkler tank ?? There are a plethora of fibreglass preformed underground sprinkler tanks on the market , which apart (I assume) a small above ground pump/ control panel would take up little space ???
The sprinkler system will be for the hotel and offices. It will probably be a life safety system. I'm pretty certain that underground tanks are not compliant for a life safety sprinkler system.

Unfortunately the crane model number isn't visible, but it's a mobile 5 axel crane. If anyone knows the crane model number, can you post it please, just out of interest. Thanks. I've looked on the Ainscough website, but I can't place that actual crane. Ainscough have a few 5 axel cranes in their fleet of mobile cranes.

Pictures from CP's video.

It does look like the

But it looks a bit smaller than the Ainscough crane at the Etihad.

Looking forward to the next few weeks’ drone footage, but thereafter it might be a bit boring. Near my house part of a local school has been demolished and a new modern build erected. All the exterior work is now finished apart from some landscaping, and all the onsite and nearby vans are plumbers, electricians, drywall and plasterers etc etc. I think this will be the case for the North Stand by September

Definitely, as the end gets nearer there is less and less to see and the visits slow right down and even then there is still little to see.
I go to Evertons new stadium probably every couple of weeks now and see very little change in that time, its probably been like that since January.

Fins!

Todays look around, the crane has arrived on the pitch.

Thank you again for the continual updates.

It’s quite staggering regarding the amount of component parts and skilled workers it takes to even contemplate building such a structure isn’t it?

My mind often thinks back to 100 years or so when for example the Leitch Stands were built, without the H&S requirements that there are today …. and what it must’ve been like?

Going back centuries, Cathedral’s etc???

I’ve always said that the architects and stonemasons were the true geniuses of times gone by. You only have to look round Manchester to see what they’re building now to what they built in the past. Buildings like the Midland Hotel and the Town Hall for instance compared to any of the hundreds of nondescript tower blocks they’re continuing to inflict upon us.

Bet the Sheikh is enjoying this thread! ;-)
If you are, kind sir, just say bollocks to it let’s keep the cranes and workers on site and get the sides completed whilst we’re at it. Will keep your favourite BM thread going for a couple more years. I thank you.
