PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The same people that think the parties know the outcome have been peddling that nonsense for months. So, they presumably believe the parties have sat on the decision for months without any leaks. That is super impressive work from all the parties.

Or perhaps, the judgment simply has not been handed down even in draft.

But that’s no fun.

I'll tell you what's going through my suspicious mind currently. That the outcome is known and has been for a couple of months. I've said this before and I'm standing by that (until I'm told otherwise). There was too much noise around March time for there not to be some smoke, even if the fire didn't catch hold.

When you read that MEN piece Link (and maybe I'm reading it wrong or with confirmation bias) there's a couple of things that stand out. The first is this phrase -
"it has now been five without a published result". Note that word 'published'. To me that implies there has been a result but it hasn't yet been published. The other thing is Khaldoon's tone, which is "be patient, it's coming". The impression I get from that is he knows the result but things just have to take their course. But what is that course?

I'm going to speculate that this outcome is so bad for one or more parties that they are finished.

For the party most obviously at risk, his employer may have been quietly head-hunting his successor, who might have to be more experienced at crisis-management than marketing. Another party who may be at risk is involved with a club that's had, for them, a successful season by winning a trophy at the end of the season and they didn't want anything to detract from that. Maybe it suits us to wait until the CWC is done and dusted, as we don't want any distractions before then.

As I said, this is pure speculation but could explain the situation.
It’s very plausible though. I have always thought this was an “all or nothing case.” There’s not much middle ground when you essentially accuse an organisation of false accounting.

Khaldoon knows how the case has gone and is waiting like everyone else for the published final draft.

Covered so many times…

Stadium rebuild
Player transfers
Pep staying
No commercial partners have left us
Ethiad happy to float

Anyone who is claiming that the lawyers have not spoken to Khaldoon officially or unofficially is not seeing the full picture but following a legal framework which normally is very formal and black in white.

Powerful families like Mansour have eyes and ears everywhere.

A fraud case that can’t be proved is blah.

I agree with Preswitch, we probably found out few months ago.

:)

Occam was such a square. But it doesn't really matter, does it? When it's finally published, we won't know whether it was held back for any reason or whether the panel can only type with one finger?

All we can do is wait. Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day. And fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way, of course.

Yeah that's the impression I got. Confidence in his voice, the words he used.

Its just not how he would be acting if he knew it was a 50/50 and doesn't know what verdict they can come up with.

So I don't think he can know the actual result but can be confident we haven't breached anything and it's just waiting for the rubber stamp.

It's only a feeling though.
If we had lost he would not have said anything about it. He would be too busy clearing his desk.

I really hate to break it to you, but the parties do not know. I have spoken to or heard from multiple very good sources confirming this (from all sides inc City). Obviously, it could have changed last week (perhaps they received a draft on Friday for example) but besides that, the parties have simply not had the judgment or outcome. I would say there is a pretty good chance we will hear in the next 2/3 weeks though.

How exactly do you think they would explain not telling the public until months after the date of the decision? It would be impossible and simply add to the appearance of stitch up.

There is little to explain. A huge trial takes months to get a decision on.

You've clearly no idea how the media works. Many stories get suppressed or minimised because the journalist or paper doesn't want to destroy their relationship with the source, or is promised an exclusive. There are huge stories about former international players that I know about but have never seen the light of day.

Let's put it another way. Your best mate tells you something, and asks you not to tell anyone else as it's just between the two of you. But you do tell others and the story is all over town. Do you think your mate would trust you with a secret again?
Journalists do sit on stories but usually when they have been promised a better one. There is always a trade.

All true. But both parties will have seen all the evidence on both sides. They will also have had informal communications as the statement is written up to ensure facts are correct. What make me optimistic is that the PL and red shirt clubs have stopped briefing the media. Even Simon Jordan has eased off. The PL are not confident.

That means from 2-3 weeks at 9:30am we will do 100 pages a day…… ;)
