What are the forecast projections on the number of immigrants that will come to this country over the next couple of years and how many do we expect to return (assuming the French will have volunteers to come here spilling over the top? What are the spending/savings forecasts> How will they ever know it is working if there are no forecast measures to hold the executed plan against?
This really does look like another Government half baked hare brained scheme that, yet again (conservatives included) has not been fully thought through.
Surely it is not unreasonable to ask the government to provide some performance indicators and targets that will enable them to demonstrate it is working?

Perhaps that is the problem. Everyone thinks everyone else is taking the piss and so no one does anything. You think the self-employed are taking the piss, the self-employed think PAYE workers are taking the piss, PAYE workers in the private sector think PAYE workers in the public sector are taking the piss and Pensioners want the good old days and their youth back and are pissed at everyone under the age of 60.

It’s like when I rarely read/listen to a media report. There’s me thinking we’re moving a step forward and all I hear is how the country is going further back. Come on here, exactly the same.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not the forever optimist, but I do see this country in a far better shape than it has been for years. Industrial planning, tackling the social framework of the country, better relations with our neighbours and deals done that were being held up, for whatever reason. On the financial side, markets seem happy with the way the Chancellor is going about her business, interest rates are coming down steadily, and we will soon see how their house building targets are doing once the various bills are passed.
And, again, I can see exactly where they’ve fucked up. Although we need reform of the welfare bill, theirs wasn’t the way to do it. Shooting themselves in the foot seems to be a prerequisite of this government and having a strategy that everybody was aware of would go some way so that people could understand them.
That’s how I see it and I’m fairly relaxed about this government at the moment, yet others seem to be screaming from the rooftops about all the fires burning through the country. I can only assume that it’s not about policies from some, and more of a hate on Labour, Starmer, Reeves, Rayner, etc, or anybody not associated with the Tories/RW/rich people of the country, and therefore foam at the mouth every time Labour, Starmer, etc, are mentioned.
It’s either that or people are expecting an immediate turnaround for the country after many years of ineptitude and neglect. Surely it can’t be that, can it?

It doesn't assume anything. There is huge unfulfilled demand for housing, way more than the Labour target. In economic terms, demand is depressed because of high prices, but at the right price there would be more demand. I missed it. I'd pay more tax. More importantly, I'd vote for more tax. Cheaper than moving to Scandinavia.I tried it a few days ago-I had one reply I think.
