Oasis reunion

I love threads like this.
They show up that peculiarly British, and wholly unlikeable, trait of being contrary and obtuse for the sake of it. As if it somehow validates one’s own feeling of self worth.
You can predict it like the phases of the moon. A group of people contribute to a thread to celebrate the reunion of the biggest British rock band for generations, happily post how happy they are at the news, and generally just celebrate a wonderful piece of news, and as sure as eggs is eggs, the thread is quickly hijacked by the ‘too cool for school’ crowd.

“Oasis are shit”, “not what they were” etc etc.

It doesn’t make you look nuanced and sophisticated. It makes you look like a miserable ****.

Back in 94 we were a mix of red n blues but although it was amazing that they helped put the blues on the map when when we were really,really shite, it really didn't matter, As a group of pals , we were just OASIS

That's why I always say the Gallaghers earned the right to be involved with City. When they were the biggest band in the world they stood up for City. Who were really shit at the time.

I'v always said,if they had been rags it would have been unbearable for us in the 1990's,imagine them cunts winning everything and Liam and Noel mouthing off about it too,jesus,doesn't bear thinking about.

I’m a few years older than you and music is so important to me, loved punk which changed the music scene from around 77/78, really gave the industry the kick up the arse it needed. Still listen to punk/new wave/mod music along with other genres.

Mid 90’s I went to the Nynex (MEN?) on my own to watch Oasis as none of my mates were really that interested, when I got there these two lads were on stage doing a set I’d never really heard before. Tbf, it wasn’t my kind of music but it turned out to be The Chemical Brothers. Oasis were tremendous that night and the next three times I saw them plenty of my friends came along to Trafford Cricket Ground and Maine Road.

I decided not to go to the latest gigs, just due to the logistics of getting there and back but it’s great so many fans, especially the younger generation are really enjoying the experience. You’d have to be a right miserable git to slag anyone off for going. My mate’s nephew who’s in his 20’s and lives in Oz is arriving tomorrow for the concert, he wasn’t even born when I saw Oasis but he’s got the buzz big time.

Hope everyone enjoys the gigs, embrace the pure joy in these troubled times, music, whatever you’re into, provides so much pleasure.

Living down saff the 90's were shit for us fans. I always even today always wear City gear where ever I go.
To have Oasis the biggest band in the world, Burnage lads taking about City, Mr Shifters etc was fucking brilliant for me.
My dad and grandad were from Eastern Circle, we lived just outside of Burnage by a few hundred yards in Didsbury. Mum worked across the road from Mr Shifters at the Cake Box on Fog Lane.
To have the biggest band talking about the area that a young Gordon lived in was mint.
It showed the world true mancs support City regardless of how shit City were.

Yes I left Didsbury in 1966, yes I don't have a manc accent ( some say i do abit ). People area here say I'm from Ramsgate and Kent and I can't call myself a manc. Some manc might say the same but for me my roots are in Manchester, I was born in Manchester (Trafford General shhhhhh) into a manc family and a blue family through and through. So to suddenly have the biggest band in the world happy to be shown as City fans was great.

Perhaps it meant more to mancs who no longer live in Manchester, Oasis brought abit of Manchester back into our lives.

Even at 63 yrs old I asked Noel for a selfie at the Brighton game a few seasons ago. Cheers Noel. Now I'll be just short of my 65th when I get to see Oasis at Wembley in late September. Can't wait absolutely buzzing

Unbelievable atmosphere last night - that many people in attendance and from what I could tell, a totally friendly crowd with everyone there having a great time.

All credit to everyone involved, loads of booze and no dickheads. Didn’t read of any arrests either.

And no political shit was a breath of fresh air given all the nonsense virtue signalling at Glastonbury.

Is it still worth doing the Tram from Victoria. I know there was huge queues yesterday and that's with Double trams every Six minutes?
