Cracking intro! As for the film; it looks dated these days. A film of it's time, you might say. Directed by Russell Mulcahy, who was (iirc) better known for music videos back then. Roxanne Hart looked well in it, mind. And Clancy Brown was a brilliant bad guy. Was that his first significant role?
Please God, no. I've no doubt the remake will have the most up to date CGI, but the original (dated or not) has a certain charm. And the SFX are most definitely of their time. The climax at the end; after McLeod beheads the Kurgan and lifts into the air, if you look carefully, you can see the wires that lifts him!
