PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Interesting. Any idea where you heard that?

I am not sure what the point of any of that would be? The result would be the same?
Sort of. It’s coming out of a type of non-guaranteed bonus rather than guaranteed prize money.

I can’t remember where I read or heard it; though I would guess it was a podcast. I do think it was in connection with some PL clubs being annoyed that they had become used to the end of season bonus and suddenly it wasn’t there or not as much. The PL’s response was that the fund was meant for instances like this and that the rules must be upheld for the good of the game… ie money well spent.

Even that seems unlikely & their lawyers would be well aware of the apt rules that are legal when it comes to accounting.

Seeing as even though Uefa were unhappy that Etihad wasnt considered an APT it was considered fair market value & then you add in that since th EPL through the book at us, those related party rules have been shown to be illegal due to shareholder loans.
I think you've got Related & Associated parties mixed up. UEFA weren't happy that Etihad wasn't considered a related party and their advisors in 2014 (PWC iirc) claimed they were, which was nonsensical. This topic came up again at CAS.

APTs are a PL construct, because they couldn't win on the Related Party issue. As someone else said, I'm a little surprised that City didn't challenge this whole APT issue in its case against the PL, but maybe they were sure of their ground on the shareholder loan issue and didn't want to overreach themselves.

Fair enough. It would be sensible to build up a general reserve year on year for things like this, not sure it makes much sense to do it annually and then distribute any excess, though. But what do I know?

:)

I stand corrected but it still seems farcical due to Uefa deeming it at fair market value

Fuck that although they were the main ones running with this you had the small clubs like place Brighton etc backing them up let them get hit in the pocket and teach them a lesson they had numerous chances to vote with us and back us up but hid behind “the big boys”

Yep and you could argue that Brighton are only were they are now thanks to interest free owner loads which have been proven to be illegal/unfair.

That's an interesting question, though. It's hardly equitable that, if the PL is ordered to pay both parties' costs, that this amount is deducted from the "pot" before it's distributed. In that case City will still get hit with 5% of the total costs. I wonder how they will handle that?
Im pretty sure, they’d happily pay that. Then go after compensation for damaging our brand

Just for context, since this whole sorry saga began on the 5th November 2018 with the original Der Spiegel articles, 2468 days have passed, we have been banned from the CL for 2 seasons by UEFA, taken them to CAS, won & had it overturned, charged by the Premier League, had a hearing & are still none the wiser as to when this will be over.

Even after the initial judgement there will likely be appeals & further. This whole thing has done real damage to my love for football, that's what has hurt the most.

You forgot to mention all the cups we’ve won in that time. Certainly not boring being a City fan, and wouldn’t change it for the world.
