PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

'We can't see an end to this and because of escalating costs bla bla, we have decided to end the case against MCFC'

So still guilty/got away with it. No focus on why their auditors didn't pick it up on numerous occasions over ten years, and if it was not proveable, why did they continue to prosecute. I can see it happening. They will be spinning it that much they will need motion sickness tablets.
Another way of not paying the club compensation

Regarding appeals. If City lose on any significant points, I envisage a scenario where we might lodge an appeal to a higher authority.

If the PL loses substantially, does anyone think they will have the appetite for an appeal, given the recent talk about escalating costs, and the effect of this on member clubs?

They won't. They'll say it was their duty to investigate and charge or some shit and that will be that.

Agree. City will appeal because losing means immeasurable damage ... whereas the PL losing is just a financial hit for them

I think the costs angle is more likely to be used as an excuse not to go after another team once this is all done and over with.
Chelsea would be the prime beneficiaries of this but with the way Liverpool and United are spending stuff may come out about them soon, the 'too costly with no guarantee of success' line will be used to justify ignoring anything that comes out, either through this investigation or the APT trial.

Now you want to get into metaphysics?

Don't you think this fiasco has been going on long enough?

Can only appeal if the panel haven't followed procedure, there was an error of law or most unlikely in our case new evidence
