The Labour Government

I know but how many times are you gonna do it? It doesn't appear to be working.
My issue with him is that there is NEVER anything constructive to say-ever, it's all sniping. He started with Labour in Wales has to go, that progressed to blaming Labour nationally for everything from his car insurance going up (it actually went down) and being personally worse off. When challenged there is/was no evidence to show that is the case, and that applies to more recent examples. He also claimed his intention to vote Reform was nothing more than a protest vote, but I'm not sure a floating voter makes that decision 4 years out from a GE.

It would be really easy to just ignore him but as you say it's a footy forum and if someone spouts contradictory and false rhetoric then why shouldn't other posters( and it's clearly not just me) challenge him on it? The usual lack of response or ability to defend his position strengthens the "sniper" analogy.

You and I don't often see eye to eye but at least we both try to have a constructive debate when necessary, I think.

You're right that he won't change his mind, but if nothing else, being challenged may sow a seed that a right wing populist party may seem a good idea on paper but will do nothing for the good of the UK. Every vote wil count as we have seen in Runcorn with Pochin.

PS. And his username sours my memories of a childhood hero. ;-)

He is quite an odd poster to be fair, in that I asked him a couple of months ago what policies he wanted to see implemented and it aligned a lot more with left wing parties than Reform, I asked him to try a who should I vote for questionnaire to see what the results showed but I don’t think he did it.

You’re right he’s not changing his mind though and he’s perfectly entitled not to, I get why people challenge his position too though as it is contrary to say the least.

Does make me wonder how many other reform voters think similarly as im not sure how people can combat that.

There will be people of all persuasions who think what they think, let's take it away from reform and politics for a second as there is an obsession with them on here.

I was talking to a Newcastle fan on Fruday, like the guy always chat to Newcastle with him. Anyhow I said don't sell Izak to Liverpool please with a smile on my face, he then goes on about the big boys closed shop, how city helped create it.
When he mentioned the premier league are in cahoots with us and are just awaiting a bigger blown envelope i tried to explain to him the stupidity in his reasoning.

I mentioned how before newcaste got taken over he was of the opinion City shouldn't be able to spend big because of the owners. He now thinks it unfair they can't

I told him about the red tops, he just shrugged

I said Newcastle voted for PSR, nothing.

I said you think the premier league and city had a plan that we would take years and both would spend a fortune just for us to secretly give them money,? Why?

I mentioned the letter from the other clubs, the directors meeting of Liverpool United and arsenal.

After all this he just said It's all corrupt ie city, I was getting pretty fucking annoyed here because I've always made an effort with him and he never mentions us winning or congratulates us on a trophy.

It's a shame because away from footy he's sound but now im at the point where i think he's just a fucking biased dick who chooses to believe anything that suits.

I'm afraid that's human beings and I think there are plenty on here who are like that from all.politucal persuasions. I think frustration because someone won't see a point of view is rife on here. Anyhow this topic has run its course.

I hope Newcastle get relegated :-)

Fair points, the forum would be better if everyone answered posts honestly and conceded a bit more..

Starmer and European leaders to join Zelenskyy in the US.

Would Farage would be doing this ?

Such a shame very few appreciate the efforts we are making for Ukraines fight against Russia and at long last having a statesman PM.

Farage would be on Trump’s side of the table helping him berate Zelenskyy.

Both our govts have in fairness, unfortunately due to the twat that is Trump I feel things are about to come to a head, i hope the UK and Europe hold firm.

He'd be a complete rabbit in headlights, fought his whole career against the EU and wouldn't have a clue where to stand when it comes to summits on European security, embarrassing thought.

We are powerless to stop Israel pretty much especially as they are being protected by Trumps America.
If you removed your head from Starmer's arse you may might even spot the hypocrisy in this 'great statesman' nonsense.

It was basically the tories or labour, who’s views on immigration are pretty much the same. There was not really a fully fledged alternative at the time.

Don’t you think it’s a bit disingenuous of Staniforth posting a clip of Starmer’s speech on Gaza that he made just 3 weeks after 7 October, and not mentioning that fact. Sort of infers Starmer’s position hasn’t evolved with time, but the hatred of Starmer by the far right is only matched by the hatred from the far left so I guess it’s par for the course.

I gave up a long time ago. There are many posters on here who don’t care for the truth and will post stuff for effect. Reality and context doesn’t matter, as long as they spread their hatred to further destabilise the country.

Back in the day it was called subversion, and we expected it from the likes of the USSR. Now we get it from our own.

Maybe - but has Starmer actually said anything different since, or is he still condemning Russia's attacks on civilians in Ukraine as war crimes while being reluctant to say that levelling Gaza is also a war crime?

100% this. It renders proper debate pointless. It’s just people shouting emotions and posting their “truths”.

No idea but if he hasn’t, maybe Staniforth should have used a more contemporary clip.
