Russian invasion of Ukraine

Another hot mic moment in the W.H. caught Trump talking to Pres. Macron and telling him "I think he (Putin) wants to do a deal. He wants to do it for me." The levels of delusion and narcissism here are off the scale. Would love to know what Macron said back, perhaps he just shook his head sadly and kept quiet.

Elsewhere in the news it's reported that a Trump stooge asked Zelensky how much of Ukrainian territory he'd be prepared to give up; as NBC pointed out, no one ever asked De Gaulle after 1940 how much of France he'd be willing to hand over. What's Ukrainian for "rien", or "not a fucking inch"?

Putin's Russia - builders who are worse at the job than Persimmon are here

The state of Russia is why Putin wants to keep this war going. When the guns fall silent there will be the realisation of what exactly was this all for, the million plus who have been killed or wounded them and their families will be left to fend for themselves. Living standards within the country are worse than in Soviet times, the country is flat broke with the money being syphoned off to Putin and his mates. If and when peace happens Putin will then be under threat internally, which is why he needs this distraction over the last three and half years going.

God knows if any of this will come to anything but that White House meeting seemed to go about as well as it could’ve realistically gone.

The thing is Ukraine and Europe need security guarantees on the security guarantees. What’s to stop Trump just sacking it off and packing up after a month because he gets bored, or some fuckwit advisor tells him it’s costing too much cash?

Can anyone explain ????

Slava ukraini.

He's been played by Putin. His people know it and one of them had the spine to stop it as it was happening. The media are now just reporting what happened. Hes lashing out as he can't cope with the fact that the west hates what he does with Putin but he has a massive bones for the guy even though he's basically being blackmailed. Trump is dumb and weak and he doesn't like it when it's pointed out to him.

The war is no nearer to ending today than it was 2 weeks ago. Trump's 10 day deadline has come and gone. He's met Putin and shook his hand on America soil. Russian tanks are flying American flags in Ukraine and that's the only thing that's changed.

Sir Keir Starmer will chair a virtual meeting of the coalition of the willing this morning after the talks at the White House.

Downing Street has said the prime minister will update leaders on the outcomes of the talks and discuss next steps.

Led by the UK and France, the initiative could see troops from a number of European and NATOcountries deployed to Ukraineas peacekeepers in order to deter Vladimir Putin from rearming and attacking again in the future.

trump/putin want a peace deal to create new facts on the map.

EU/UKR want a ceasefire to avoid those facts hoping for the tide to turn ramping up defense production - no matter if that takes years.

putin wants the first bite of the cake and trump is happy to assist.

May be wrong but it sounds like with the emphasis now focussing on security deals, has Zelensky a territorial line in the sand he thinks Putin may accept?

The “peacekeepers” should be deployed in those area that Russia has taken over to ensure that they are not being used for a further excursion into Ukraine.

Very well put.

Reinforcing Putin's power is the best analysis as to what caused this war in the first place IMO.

War with Oceania...

Again, from the outside is looking (maybe) like they will get the war concluded. Zelensky seems positive, trump is milking it for all its worth. If the EU and US can get some troops on the ground in Ukraine that would be good to guarantee Ukrainian future. Let's see.

Hopefully the killing will stop soon.

I know it upsets some of you that the war might come to an end or that trump (wanker) might even be contributing to that or that trump is letting them keep a large part of Ukraine, but it sounds good to me. Hopefully Russia can pay for the shit they have caused I doubt it though.
