Holidays

My in-laws live in the Dordogne, so we go 3/4/5 times a year.

Every visit we go to Bordeaux, and every time I get more enamoured with it. It's such an amazing city. The food, the architecture... the wine...

Such an underrated city. If you're ever looking for a city break, give it a go. And do a wine tour around St Emilion.

Tobermory, Isle of Mull, Scotland. This is our 20th holiday here and set to be a fine two weeks weather wise, which is unusual.

We have a sandy beach nearby (200 metres), and we are staying in the Whisky Rooms, tastefully decorated on the outside as you can see. The hosts left us some nice little souvenirs, which was lovely. I'm almost tempted to give up being tee-total.

Off to Rhodes this weekend for 11 nights. Looking forward to visiting the old town and Lindos.
Got an air bnb in Stegna.

Been to Lindos a good few times (for the rock music week) it's a pretty place, but gets absolutely rammed with day trippers, better of a night time. If you get to the main beach, head to the far end, and Palestera taverna for some great food right on the water's edge.

Just back from a 2 week trip in Italy and France. Cheap flight to Milan, then a 4hr drive to a campsite about 45mins south of Pisa. Managed a trip to Pisa and hit the beach up before driving up to the Alps for a week which was glorious. Stopped off at La Spezia on the drive up and did the train along the Cinque Terre which was stunning and has been on my hit list for a while.

A week in Meribel Mottaret, carrying a 3 year old on my shoulders up and down mountains. Managed to lose half a stone despite drinking every night.

Now to plan the next trip!

I don't know if it's already been mentioned, from May 2025, you need to complete - online - an arrival Card to enter Thailand. It must be done 3 days before you travel.

I didn't know till just now thanks to my Partner's Daughter. I arrive on Sept. 6th. Just tried to do it but it won't let me as it's too early. No cost if you do it on the official web site.

Just booked Albufeira for a 5 night stay with a couple of mates, planning on doing the direct train to Lisbon but any other suggestions of what to do would be welcome.

If going to Albuferia here's a couple of alternative If you're into wine try Quinta do Canhoto, just outside Albuferia old town, There's a good bike hire shop off the old town square, where they'll give you routes depending on how fit and where you might like to go, my suggestion is to head to salgardo resort and beyond along the boardwalk. Great steak house called O Manjar in the old town also.If you're into tennis then there's a paddle tennis place again a 5 euro taxi ride away.
I'm back there in October with Mates
