Today's shooting in America thread

NYC, middle of Manhattan this hot Monday afternoon. Just walked by the scene. Hundreds of people with hands in the air being directed by police which way to go after some guy walked into an office building carrying a long gun in plain sight. Two shot inc. a police officer sadly dead.

Shooter killed himself.
He had a wife and two kids, another on the way.
His parents' only son. Came to nyc from Bangladesh.

R.I.P.

This didn't even make the headlines here I certainly didn't see it

Strange what makes the news and what doesn’t. Above a poster said 8 dead in Bangkok, and the NY one is Sky’s major headline on the app. I’m not even that shocked by the NY shooting. I wonder why it’s the headline on Sky News?

Seems to have knocked the stabbing to death of two men in London down the page too.

Do they not have school holidays in the summer to get them ready for not having holidays from work?
School started on Monday is what they’re saying. Earlier than over here.

They’re also yet again including the murderous **** among the death toll. Fuck the murderous ****.

Uk - one mass school shooting 40 years ago, triggers public enquiry, law changes, strengthening of vetting for those working in schools, no shootings since.

USA - thoughts and prayers, carry on as normal, repeat
