16 | Rodri 2025/26

Interesting - I’m trying to work out who you’re referring to here mate, but the only recent Bundesliga acquisition I can think of is Marmoush - and I can’t imagine he would be so disruptive as to have pissed off Rodri (and Traff) to the extent where he’s giving off about it in public like that.
Ortega & Akanji were the two I had in mind, the keeper equation must have been difficult with Eddy wanting out but that's unrelated.

Thanks for clarifying mate.

There’s been a lot of upheaval in our goalkeeping department in a few short months after years of the same faces every day, so I’d imagine that was a pretty strange vibe to walk into.

Three in, two out (and a third almost out!) after Eddie and Scott had been together for six years, and with Stefan for the last three.

All change!

He’s clearly seen the staggering drop in quality and therefore won’t sign a new deal and will try to move in the summer.

Can’t blame him. He’s too good not to be challenging for titles, never mind playing Europa conference league with us next season!

I think Rodri liftting the CL trophy with City is a more likely scebario than playing in the Europa conference league. To project our current form onto the rest of the season is a mistake.

And should be our captain ridiculous that he isnt

Watched Rodri's cameo last night. Was excellent in the first 15 minutes or so but after that made some mistakes in possession. He will need a month or two to regain form. The important thing is that he stays fit.

Anyone else slightly concerned about his future at City? Feels like with the national team doing really well, I wouldn’t be surprised if a move back to Spain appealed to Rodri.

I doubt we would sell. He might prefer to sign a new contract because a bad injury in the last year of the contract would be, well, bad for him.

The important thing: we show that we can be better than our rivals in England and Europe. Sign top top players and make us *the* top team in the world.

If the resolution of the 115 charges is positive, I reckon we will go big in the transfer market and sign top players.

Going to be an interesting week for him. He cannot play 3 tough, intense games in a week. It would be negligent to ask that of him so we'll have to make a choice here.

The natural choice would be he sits out Napoli midweek but for maximum rest between games, but after last seasons debacle, i suspect pep is going to go strong every game in thr CL, and is especially going to want to win our home games.

He's in his prime years. He either goes to Madrid next summer or signs a contract extension. He's got 3-4 years left at the top top level.

I hope he signs a new deal.

I doubt his memory is short enough to forget how cuntish Madrid were on his big night at the Ballon d’Or. Despite his recent interview saying the award meant nothing to him.

On top of that, he’s ex-Atletico. I know that doesn’t count for much but it could also count for something.

Plus, I presume we were talking to him about a new deal during a time where he’d done his ACL which is a vote of confidence and again, something probably not unnoticed by him.

Hopefully nipped in the bud soon, though, because some Madrid players (Carvajal, ****) are already spouting in the media about him going.

My twopence is that he was ready to sign one (it had been reported in a few places) but now he’s seen the drop in quality and is stalling a bit. Maybe a negotiation tactic but also maybe a sign to the club to pick up their business. Players like Donnarumma are a great start. Genuine world class, experienced winners.

His game is not predicated on pace and energy so, injury permitting, he could be around for another 5 or 6?
Maybe a move to centre half could be on the cards

Expectedly rusty. Deserves all the time he needs to get up to speed. Be no complaints regarding his performances next few months..

I don’t think we’ll see him at his best until after Christmas. He’s good enough when rusty that he’ll still play every game but it’s noticeable that he’s not at the level he was before the injury yet.

Hes in all the right places but hes not up to game speed and isn’t sharp. Needs these games and minutes. He still ties everything together.

Interesting to see how he’s managed. 65 mins thursday? Or off the bench Thursday?

Made several mistakes in the first half, but it's normal at this stage of his return from injury.

Having tough bastards like him, Donna, Dias, Gvardiol, Khusa, Haaland will make a difference over the course of the season.
