Got to love SSN's online take on finding excuses for them.

"Amorim and the United hierarchy feel they are losing out on the fine margins right now.

There are other mitigating circumstances too - the injuries to Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha are particularly damaging, especially because United's squad doesn't have the strength in depth of any of the other "Big Six" clubs right now."

This is for a club who have spent net £783million over the last 5 seasons and a staggering net £1.35BILLION over the last 10 seasons.

"It will take several transfer windows and clever recruitment before that is a reality. Mount and Cunha should both be back available soon."

How many bloody transfer windows do they need?
They had a 130m strikeforce on sunday but the loss of cunha and misfit mount is particularly damaging to them? The mental gymnastics that sly sports news go through to make excuses for them is incredible.

Their celebration of their transfer window as something only they could do in their position. They’ve spent upwards of £200 plus million on Premier League jobbers and a striker that looks worse than the person he was replacing in Hoijland. Not to mention signing a keeper from a league that is worse standard than the championship.

I heard some idiot rag in the beer garden before the season started that they could compete for the league with their new signings. I nearly spat my pint out in disbelief.

They get rid of Amorim and the circle of mediocrity keeps going. They’ve already got Sancho, Hoijland and Rashford out on loan, a new manager comes in and he will have to completely rebuild the squad and take a wrecking ball to it. Trouble is who would want the players they have? They only have one good player in Fernandes and he’s the wrong side of his career age wise. It’s death by a thousand cuts and will take another billion to fix, trouble is they need probably another three billion to build their stadium on top of what ever the council pays to move that freight terminal. They are in a right spot of bother.
All of this.

Plus, they're still overpaying for decent players who look better before and after they sign. Any genuine world class talent has at least us, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea who can match their wages and are a more promising prospect for developing your career. I'd put Spurs and Newcastle ahead of them. They are not making any money off academy signings, and the best young talent in the area are coming to City. And no genuine, world class manager would look at them: they'll ruin your career. And now they've chopped and changed their system again.

Said to my Utd supporting friends that the worse thing they have done in the last 2-3 years was to rid themselves of De Gea. I always thought he saved them 15-20 points a season. Without him they would have had a few more years out of Europe.
He couldnt pass out from the back never mind saving shots its all about passing out from the back

Put paid to Ten Bob Notes plans about possession football when they got found out against Brentford in 2022. He couldn't do either that day .

People forget how bad De Gea was by the end. It wasn’t just that he can’t kick the ball, he could barely claim a cross, and he was so rooted to his line that every 1v1 was a goal.

He was costing them more points than he earned with reflex saves for the last couple of years.

Onana being unbelievably shit has done his reputation a world of good.

they literally cant take a wrecking ball to the squad (stupid contracts) and that therein lies the issue. How long being out of any form of European football would REALLY f-them up? Here's hoping it's not that long...

Trouble is they have had competent managers and it’s not worked. Van Gaal and Mourinho have impressive cvs but they had to work in situations like having family man Ryan being thrusted onto them to take training or Taggert and his class of 92 minions putting their two pennies worth in for what should be done in the background.

They can’t accept where they are as a club and still have this idea of where they should be. Setting out deadlines to win the league in 2028 as it’s some anniversary is completely unrealistic. Putting together nice models of stadiums when they are billion in the hole and don’t have any backers wanting to finance it is another area where they are going wrong.

City as a club are in transition and have ceded ground to Liverpool and Arsenal. I hope our management team looks at what has happened at the swamp and realises delusion and complacency married with unrealistic goals can be a disaster for the long term ambitions of a football club.
Just having a decent manager isn't good enough if you've got a salesman in Woodward as CEO.

Maximum 9 points surely, DDWLWD, even if they get PGMOL assistance. I think they will get at least 5 though.

Going to be long periods of suffering without European or League Cup distractions if this set of games goes badly.
A week is a very long time to sit on a loss.

There's been a lot of talk in the media (obviously) that the rags will benefit from having no midweek European distractions.

I personally think it's catastrophic for them. It'll be at least February before their players get up to match fitness. Any decent conditioning coach will tell you that these players are as likely to experience muscle injuries from under-load than some of their opponents who will be playing every three days.

The other problem that Amorim has got, is that if he insists on sticking with his system, he'll be relying on rhythm from his players and you don't get that by playing one game per week.

I would say that all in all, the future is looking very bright indeed.

That f’kin Merson, seriously needs putting out to grass now!Just heard him say that if utd had Chelseas’ wing backs (James and hair bear)they would be top of the league!!?I shit you not!I wonder how much they pay this pillock, for such expertise!?….it’s just a society of clowns on there,it really is.
