The "which famous person died today" thread

Diane Keaton RIP
Was watching one of her films this afternoon.
Super actress
I remember her role in Looking for Mr Dunbar was quite shocking when I watched it as a teenager. I still remember how I felt about it now and have never watched it again since. Based on a true story which made it even more poignant!

I think the film you are thinking of is actually -
"Looking for Mr. Goodbar".

I was in large part attracted to my wife because she looks like Diane Keaton. I loved her work. Annie Hall remains one of my very favo(u)rite films, as does Sleeper and of course The Godfathers (which I thought underused her) but she was in so many others that were great. Very very sad. RIP to a beautiful, talented woman.

Annie Hall, timeless.
RIP Diane.

Nice article by Peter Bradshaw...

"She was more than America’s sweetheart: Keaton was the sophisticated, sweet-natured, unaffectedly sensual woman with whom America was unrequitedly in love. Diane Keaton was out of America’s league".

The Godfather trilogy, yeah? She was a pivotal figure in those films. Particularly the third one, which wasn't a great film.
I & II are for me the greatest movies ever made. Not necessarily my favourite movies although they are right up there on that score too; part of the group that I can still rewatch despite having seen them many times.

One of the very few instances where the sequel was better than the original. And the original was stunning. I just loved how, in the sequel, they integrated Vito's early life after leaving sicily for New York, and how his empire grew.
