Media discussion - 2025/26

When watching cycling i enjoy the co commentaries. Informative and knowledgeable both of the racing and the surrounding area and buildings.
I think sometimes Brotherton tends to interrupt or speak over Boardman. But I do agree, they offer good coverage.
I could their frustration with the Madison when when the camera was focusing on the leaders only. What a complicated race that is.

To be honest, this is something that is very much swept under the carpet with our fanbase with regards to our majority shareholder.

You only have to look at the Middle East thread on this website to see that many City fans have a strongly passionate voice of morality around our govt’s involvement with Israel and what Israel have been doing in Gaza, yet our fanbase are almost completely silent around Mansour being the Deputy Prime Minister and Vice President of UAE and seeing their involvement in Sudan and Yemen.

Could you imagine what we’d say to Rags if the Glasers were into some appalling murderous shit?
Wow over 6,000 posts on here in just over a year, prolific….

Reminds me of the old BBC Radio commentary with that windbag, Alan Green.
He could and would talk about all kinds of shite, when commentating.
When him and his co-commentator discussed the standard of the half-time Pie, I realised that BBC Sport is an absolute joke.
Do they still employ that other Statto fanatic, Jonathan Pearce ?
Worse thing about Stuart Hall and his old radio 2 Maine rd commentary, was years after the bbc sex predator retired,he was asked in an interview at his big Cheshire mansion, how he managed to talk in such high- brow flowery language.....he replied ,quick as a flash ,with a straight face
" I just made it all up "
I used to hang on his every word as a kid in the late 70s ...and it had all been false.

" Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" (Sex pistols )

Watched BBC North West tonight on Thursday and Annabelle Tiffin reported "Manchester City survived a scare after coming back to win 3-2"

It's all the little things, which gets on my t*ts.
I meant to come and post that too. It's done deliberately by the Rag Dipper infested so called sports writers at media city. Tiffin &Johnson et just read the autocue, would have meant nothing to them - just deliver their venomous, childish, spiteful words.

As a response to some negativity about our PL results I thought I’d write this comparing this season with 2020-21 when some made very similar comments to this season. Worth a read (follow the link):

So Stone to fill in his time has written another Salford story this time about Borini, you would have thought that being so close to the action he wouldn't have been beaten to it by the Sun yesterday and the Guardian and Times two days ago - he must be behind on his quota!

Agree re. Jimmy Armfield, always objective and intelligent in his observations about the games he'd comment on, unlike that self-important, irritating wazzock Green. Mind, Jimmy was a Manc so one would expect nothing else!

He was always understated, unlike Green et al.. and so many of today's pundits and commentators follow the Green route rather than that taken by the Jimmy Armfields and Kenneth Wolstenholmes of this world.

Mind too, I remember Jimmy Armfield once co-commentating with Maurice Eddleston (now, there's a guy who could have his own thread..!) on one our games in the 70s when he described Peter Barnes as 'a down-and-out winger..' when he clearly meant Barnsey was an 'out-and-out winger'! Classic!
Glad Jimmy Armfield has been brought into the convo, always loved the story of a presser he was at as a journalist conducted by Ron Atkinson.

Atkinson didn't like a question he was asked, and said "How many England caps have you won?"

Armfield was on the front row, and, in reply, looked over his shoulder at his colleagues, and replied "Ron, between us, we've won 43 (all his). How many have you won?".

Atkinson had the grace to laugh, and concede.
