Running thread

I played 7 a side outdoor footy this Thursday,..without doing any running in the days leading up to it,was hoping I could 'blag' my way through the hour long match without any training/ preparation.

Bad move.

I was completely off the pace, couldn't really get into the game, lost my balance and fell challenging for a bouncing ball.... Ii pride myself in having good balance, never going to ground,it shook me up a bit...
Memo to me. Always prepare for footy with Running. You can't blag' match in your late 50s
Unless of course you are a gifted player.im just a runner basically.so it's back to the drawing board and my boring circuit runs which I used to do every week....these short dark days are challenging...
Fair play to still be playing football. I’m 58 and I don’t think I could do it.

Have to do a quick check around overnight to see if there are any parkrun cancellations in the Greater Manchester area. I think Fletcher Moss can be iffy if it’s a bit wet but hopefully most will still be on so I’ll have a bit of choice.

Any cancellations will probably be down to fallen branches blocking paths rather than flooding.
As you say, Fletcher Moss sometimes gets cancelled when the Mersey gets a bit high, as does Sale Water Park.
Thought I might as well post a link to the Cancellations list here. Some local ones already off, but I’d expect this list to grow up to 7/8am tomorrow:

Isabel Trail Parkrun completed in 28:56 this morning.
Only 225 participants this morning as I guess the tourists were scared off by yesterday's drizzle and slight breeze.
I’ve gotta get myself back there pronto. Such a quick course!
Would have been plenty of space too with less numbers …
